Judging from your awesome comment, I'd say at least six of yours, because anyone with half a brain would realize you can't make everyone the protagonist. Thanks for trying though!

Edited by Iz SnIpERBaiT: 4/27/2013 9:01:36 AMYou shitting me? you are the one saying that everyone is the protagonist, but it's swept under the rug b/c you die. I'm just saying that nobody is the main protagonist, because that actually, ya know, would make sense. edit: Actually it was 7 brain cells, i'm a bungie fanboy to the bitter end.

So, in terms of the story, we all killed the final boss and saved the Earth? That's not problematic? Or what, you think fighting him just so some hero NPC could save the day is a great ending? Okay dude. Like I said, thanks for trying.

Didn't I just say we wouldn't all kill the final boss? As in we wouldn't all be the 'main' protagonist. Who said there had to be a specific final boss?

Edited by externalmemory: 4/27/2013 9:23:21 PMNo one. Obviously this thread is entirely speculation, I didn't think that needed a disclaimer...
As in we wouldn't all be the 'main' protagonist.
My first response post should have been "anyone can see we can't all be the protagonist without a story loophole" but I typed it off hastily. And again, I'm speculating, you'd have to peg me for a retard if you honestly think I believe that quote means OMG THIS IS CONFIRMED GUISE. I'm just showing what inspired the idea. If I really need to update the OP to clear that up, I will. Is that the part of this that pissed you off? Or the subject hook (welcome to b.net)? As far as story, though, you're either proposing something like my latter scenario in the previous reply, where it's a bunch of NPC's that drive the end story of this installment, and we're just off fighting part of some big battle somewhere. Or you're saying nothing definitive happens at the end of this installment's story. I'm saying both are a bit anticlimactic for a player, IMO, and I guess I was assuming too much for others to see it from that perspective. But I realize that by having everyone make their own character in a persistent online world the obvious conclusion would be we don't all get to be the hero. And obviously this idea's working on the assumption that we won't port our players to the sequel, which isn't even close to being confirmed, denied or even hinted at by Bungie. The idea of perma-death of our character in plot terms at the end of the story, by our character choosing or not choosing to participate in that final fateful mission, see the last cinematic and end credits, and, in your words, having their story "swept under the rug", is a way to have it both ways. Think of that ending to Destiny 1 as a possibility that definitely happened in the story arc, that Guardian or Guardians were just 3 (or whatever) out of possible thousands that could have been there in the final hours. Have an epic, definitive end battle that bookends this chapter of the destiny story, and allow everyone to be the guy. It's not like other series that have elements of create-a-player haven't done something like this with their continuity. The Elder Scrolls and KOTOR, just to name a couple. Anyhow, let me know if you need any more clarification, or just tell me you still think it's stupid and let's move on.
