Ugh. I have yet to realize why the scientific community still regales an egotisitcal elitist dumbass like Richard Dawkins.

I'm not too big a fan of him, but he is influential and intelligent. I *definitely* can see someone disliking him, but to call him a dumbass is pretty ass-backwards.

To be fair to him, his book 'The Selfish Gene' was the first real attempt to write complicated science in layman's terms and thus, sparked a media revolution in the way science is presented to the average thinker.
