Think of it this way: Brand new gaming console - $200-$300 (more or less) Average person spends on a computer - $300 (more or less) So instead of getting both a console and a computer, just do away with the console and then with that extra $200-$300 along with the $300 for the computer, that's about $500-$600. You can build a very, very awesome gaming PC with that amount of money. You can even build a fairly decent gaming PC for $250-$350 (more or less). And as for games, Steam has sales running LITERALLY every single day of every single week. And then of course, Steam has their 4 big sales: Summer, Winter, Spring, and Fall Sales. You can save HUNDREDS of dollars if you buy games while they're on sale, which is what I do. For example, Steam Summer Sale 2012, I spent $90. Wanna know what I got with that $90? So ya...the Steam sales are pretty freaking awesome.

 • I think you've being modest with your console pricing for the upcoming generation. The Xbox 360 got to 250$ at the end of it's life. I'm willing to bet they'll be between 300-400$. And you didn't take into consideration that PC games are 10$ from the start. You point still stands though. You save money with a PC.

 • I was going off of current console prices, but ya, next-gen consoles will easily AT LEAST be $350-$400.
