The video above was simply an inspiration for a new story i'd like to write and possibly share with you.
I wanted to write a story based off an investigative journalist of sorts. Someone young who constantly writes in his journal keeping track of things. Some of his back story is that he is fascinated with Urban Legends, specifically the Rake. He begins to dedicate his time to investigating the Rake, fully believing it. Like I said; he keeps strictly to his journal.
Although this is the first route i've thought of, I don't know how to start it, I only know I want to write it in "diary" form. Any help? Some tips on how to approach this style of writing? I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the story.

Edited by Circadian Wolf: 3/22/2013 12:33:56 PMYou need more to go on than simply "I'm going to write a story about the rake". You need to pick a genre, an overall theme and work on the general plot basis, including a rough idea of how it will end. Knowing how a story will end, even if it's as simple as "main character dies at end" can really help you work out how to write the rest of the story. For a diary theme I'd start every entry with the date as a sort of title, none of the dear diary crap or anything. You also need to make it more personal if it's a diary. Perhaps add a note at the start on how/where he bought the diary and add random (But not out of place!) comments about going out with friends or bad days at work inbetween rake investigations.
