Nothing is wrong with a little physical punishment for children. Hell, I was spanked when I was little and when I was in my teens I was choked or smacked by a belt.
Once they are 13 and realize that they can walk all over you without any consequences, you're screwed for the next 5 years as parents.
a little physical punishment

choked by a belt.
Well this is disturbing.
-
choked OR smacked by a belt.
-
Oh, so you weren't actually choked with the belt? That's still pretty bad...
-
no, never choked with a belt lol. But I fail to see how it was bad. It actually made me into a lot better person and helped me understand that I need to respect my elders.
-
Really? Because choking children is one of those things that makes me think less of people. But I'm just petty that way.
-
i wasnt a child. i was 15...
-
And therefore, still legally a child.
-
Yep. And legally, it was still my parents duty to discipline me.
-
It's just their choice of discipline that bothers me.
-
You must be bothered at alot of things in life. I can make you one guarantee though. I WILL hit my kids if they get out of line. That I promise you.
-
You must be bothered at alot of things in life.
Yes, and most of those things are alpacas, but I hardly think I'm alone in that. Er... the being bothered by stuff thing. Not the alpaca thing. That's probably just me.
I WILL hit my kids if they get out of line. That I promise you.
Well, that's your prerogative. For now. Please refrain from throttling them, though.
-
And that's the troubling part: that you're willing to go to those lengths without actually having a situation in front of you that may drive you to do so. You're planning, ahead of time, to take the easy road.
-
oh but thats not the easy road. There is no "easy road" in parenting. Youll figure that out one day. if my child is anything like me, hes gonna need a good kick in the ass once in awhile.
-
You're right. I should've said "easier road".
-
Thats debatable. But like others have said. Your mindset will change when you grow up.
-
15-year-olds are children. Hell, I'm a child.
-
I was 6 foot and 170 when I was 15 years old. Thats bigger than most adult men. I wasnt a child.
