To be honest? If we're being ambitious and going with the "Bungie needs to make an absolutely amazing video game to even come close to following up Halo" mentality, I'd like to see 50 - 100 mi^2 of explorable land per planet. In reference to the picture above, assuming there's 7 planets explorable in this game (which I think is highly likely), that would put Destiny at a world (in total) with an area almost 9 times that of Vanilla WoW (80 mi^2), 33% bigger than Just Cause 2 (400 mi^2), and being just around 100 mi^2 larger than Test Drive: Unlimited (618 mi^2). In my opinion, this could be one of many "big things" that could push Destiny from "oh look... a Halo MMO" to something that could be really popular. e: That doesn't include all the Space areas you can travel through in your customizable ships, so keep that in mind. Also it doesn't factor in any aerial travel one could have on any given planet. However, I don't feel like measuring game worlds in volume (nor does anyone else, according to Google), so we'll stick with 700 mi^2 + Space for now.

  • How many planets are there though? Can't have vast lands on each planet for you to just roam around and exploring, they have to help keep you on track a little while giving you room to explore. On top of that I am 100% positive its gonna be a two game disc, do you really want more then that? Then you have to buy more memory or delete old games, avatar gear, and etc. Just saying. However, I understand what you mean. I personally would love a game similar to Fable or Skyrim, with quests that never run dry and so much planetary space that it would take me at least a hour just to circumnavigation the world once. It would be nice if we could just roam and take in the experience and adventures of each planet.

  • My hard drive is big enough to hold more than 2 eight gig discs-worth of memory.

  • 60? Or 20? Dont forget all the stuff you already got. I got a 60g right now, and I am planning on buying 120g if I am allowed to, buying the dam ring for her that cost more then my xbox and tv together!

  • 60. And if there's 3 discs -- 1 game disc with maybe Earth and the moon loaded on it, one with Mars and something else that you have to install, and then an alien disc with two alien planets that you install, that's only 16 gigs of my hard drive to have the play area of six games combined. That's well worth it, IMO.

  • Wow, nice. I really hope you're right, a true open world game would be an awesome fit for Destiny. I mean with all the effort Bungie is putting in the game just to keep you playing, and with the whole MMO thing, it's hard not to assume this game will be fairly huge. That's why Skyrim always sucked me back in, there was always something I hadn't explored.

  • This is very true. I found myself buying a new game, then play Skyrim, or Borderlands, just for the fact that the game has large open ground to explore.
