Destiny 2013 Release Theory
Paging through the Weekly Mail Sack, I read a few things that I believe point to a 2013 release:
[b]My theory[/b]: Bungie will be a title release for the NextBox, with a special console, controllers, etc etc. NextBox will most likely release before the holiday season this year (not confirmed, but widely accepted). So, I believe that we will get a firm release date and a bunch of other gooey details whenever Microsoft comes out of the closet (most likely in April), and that we will be playing Destiny in [u]early December[/u].

Notice the word "can't". Why would they say "can't" when they could say "won't"?
They are clearly waiting on Microsoft, and when that door opens, ours will too.

This quote also supports the idea that we are looking at less than a year til the release. For Halo:Reach, Bungie began the weekly update in February (I believe), and released in October. If Bungie is saying that the old cadence will not be good enough and we are almost into March, it leads me to believe that we will be experiencing a BUNCH of info in a shorter amount of time.
Please share any evidence to support or thwart this claim.

1 ReplyI think that 07/07/2014 is the most likely date, since Bungie loves 7's. also... Some people argue that Bungie will have to schedule their release date around other games being published by Activision.... Honey badger don't give a -blam!-. Honey badger does what it wants. Honey badger releases it's games when it wants to release its games. Other animals avoid the honey badger's release date out of fear of the honey badger.

Random new info: Assassin's Creed 4 leaked trailer shows release date of October 29th on all currently announced consoles. That would be a fairly late window to show a release date for an October game, except that they HAD to hold back the date due to NDA's with Sony and Microsoft. I know it's far fetched, but I feel like this is a similar situation that Destiny is in. They want to give release date but cannot! If this all is let out of the bag, we might get a Destiny release date SOON!

Activision posts their release date calendar by system. when they list PS4 and Xbox720 on thier calendar then everyone will know the release date. obviously, Xbox720 has not been announced although it's rumored that the [b]Destiny Jason Jones announcement's gameplay footage is based on Xbox720 and not the PS4[/b]. That's confusing since it coincided with the PS3, PS4, Xbox360 announcement. [b]Hardware manufacturers claim to know know the difference in subtle things like lighting refracting through purple smoke seen in the announcement.[/b]

1 ReplyI think they can't answer that because they don't want to get behind. In Halo 2, Bungie was hurt a lot by having a hard deadline. They probably want to avoid that deadline for Destiny

3 RepliesThe next gen xbox will most likely be announced before GDC because I can't see Microsoft not taking advantage of letting developers all over the globe get a chance to know what they can build for the console

I'm hoping the xbox 720 comes out prior to Destiny, as I want to experience it first at its highest offering. HOpefully they'll both have release dates mentioned at this years E3 ;-)
