In-game transactions would be a bad fit for destiny.

There is talk among a lot of people eager to buy weapons, armor, etc and a while ago Bungie hired an economic advisor to help presumably with an in-game economy. There is even a huge amount of text on "VIRTUAL CURRENCY AND VIRTUAL ITEMS" in the code of conduct. It seems that if there are virtual transaction, the WILL use real money. That scares me, alot. If you are able to buy things to use in-game, it could definitively change how the game is played. Lets look at the game itself. There seems to be a big emphasis on exploration around our solar system. I think that finding things like weapons, armor, upgrades, etc will take a long time and will be rewarding. Like if you have some super rare pistol or sniper it is significant because you spent hours trying to find it and you have a story to say how you got it. But if you can buy weapons/unlocks with currency, what is the point of exploring and finding it yourself? Would it make it feel less rewarding if things you could be found could be bought by others on a virtual store in seconds? I am for trading weapons and things you find to other players if they both earned them through playing the game. It makes getting something new feel more rewarding and ultimately makes trading very serious. I also feel that currency should also be earned by gameplay if it is needed. In the end my point is virtual currency and virtual transactions could easily turn Destiny into a play to win game and break down the sense of exploration/adventure. This is all speculation but I am not too keen on the possibility of being able to buy things rather than earn them. I suppose it is going to have to be the trade-off for no monthly fee, if that is the case. But, how would feel if the game had in-game transactions? Are you for or against them (if so explain why)? (Again, no one knows anything for sure and this is all assumptions). Edit: I want to clarify transactions made by money you earn in-game are fine as long as you can't buy money to use for the game. Everything you should do should be earned by gameplay and progression.

  • I wouldn't mind in game currency that was only available in game, where you couldn't buy them with real money , because I haven't really seen a game that had that option and hasn't become a "play to win" game (I haven't seen one but if you know of one I will be glad to change my opinion btw)
