To be completely honest, if Bungie is a smart developer and expects high sales for this game now and for the future, I trust that they will understand that this will really -blam!- up the game. If this ever happens I know it has to be Activision that puts them up to it. Bungie would never do something like this and they never have. They've been known to come out with free maps for games all the time, they are very mindful of their fans and their customers. Microtransactions would be bearable for cosmetic purposes like skins or stuff like that but I doubt there would be any p2w crap in this game. Random thought: I hope they have an auction house in this game where people buy and sell armor, weapons, and items like in WoW or Diablo.

  • I presume it isn't your point anyway but... Diablo 3's auction house is perhaps the most terrifying thing to happen to gaming in the past decade, but yeah, auction house wouldn't be bad in general.

  • Yeah I never played Diablo 3, I just know they have an Auction house that works similar to the one in WoW, which I really liked so yeah Auction House would be awesome. I think the reason Diablo 3's AH may have not worked well is because that game was Pay to Win and people would sell their real money bought armor for in game money. I don't know if that's what happened but just a guess.

  • Yes. Diablo 3 had the "Real money auction house" that let players use real money to buy gear from other players, or to use real money to buy gold directly from blizzard. This led to MASSIVE in game inflation, such that buying a good piece of gear was equivalent to dozens of hours of grinding, and then you had the other ten pieces to worry about. it was ludicrous and completely ruined the game, but that's just blizzard for ya.

  • Yeah, I figured that's what happened, but in WoW the AH works very well, because you can't factor in money and you can't buy gear with real money. The only thing you can buy for money is mounts and pets which don't affect gameplay. So if Destiny does something similar to WoW in the in-game economy aspect I will be very pleased.

  • Yes, my reaction to d3 was probably a bit unnecessary, seeing as how you didn't mean in specific terms, but... that auction house was just so bad haha. But hopefully their will be a system to trade and sell weapons and armor, based on in-game currency.

  • The auction house concept was a good idea, but they should have never let players buy gold with real money. Yeah the only good option would be to let players buy and sell their items and armor for in game monies.
