I 100% agree. I am super excited for destiny and its mysteries. Allow me to go off on a tangent about Halo... While I don't like dissing 343 all the time, I think that all those awesome theories and discussions within community concerning the mysteries of Halo went to waste since the information was revealed to us. I miss that feeling of thinking about the things that were so much bigger than the Halo games themselves and the players. The forerunners, the flood, the precursors. Time scales so vast that it boggled my mind. The fact that everything in the Halo universe sort of became connected and was at the point of almost coming together in Halo 3 was such a great thing. The Rainbow theory, the origin of the flood, the nature of the precursors. The only thing that ruined it, was the fact that it all came together (and is supposed to come together even more) with this 'Reclaimer trilogy'. A story being concluded that should not be concluded. A build up events so suspenseful it should never be resolved. When those terminals in Halo 3 from the Medicant Bias said that he would send the Master Chief back to his creators, that is no doubt a 'cliffhanger', but it doesn't mean someone needs to continue that story. The idea of the forerunners building these elegant structures called 'halo's. Where did they come from? Who are they? What do they look like? Any rendition of their being would be a disappointment, unless it was a mystery. I'm definitely rambling right now... but you know what I mean.

I never really considered this before, thank you. The summary of your rant is basically "343 killed the mystery". To be fair, I get the impression that 343 did this intentionally in order to clean the slate for a new story arc. Think about it; they killed Cortana, they revealed MC's face, and they explained the Forerunner. The only past mystery left is the Precursors. The way I see it, Bungie always likes to have action-plot mystery that takes place in the present, but they also always have a grander sense of mystery revolving around awesome relics and events of the distant past. 343 shifted the focus entirely to the present - making it a story with few layers, like most other FPS games out there. I still enjoyed Halo 4 though, in its own way, just not like I enjoyed Bungie's Halo games.

  • I just want to throw in my 2 cents: Me personally, I like to know every little detail about the story. When i saw the Legendary planet i wanted to know more. how could i not? 343 isn't Bungie, but i think they have done a great job trying to satisfy the group of fans that do want to know more. All about forerunners and the ultimate "destiny" of the Master Chief.

  • You know what? Bungie's gonna rock it. They better. Even if they don't, we'll still play it.
