I feel the same way. I only found Halo when Halo 3 was in its prime, sometime during ODST's marketing campaign. Back then, I didn't care much about who made the games.
My friend told me that I'd be able to be in the beta for the new Halo game when I bought my first game (ODST). I went to Bungie's website, and the rest is history. Although I didn't really frequent the forums, I'd regularly look up the culture of Halo and Bungie on Bungiepedia, and things like Ilovebees and IRIS really made me feel like I missed out, as well as the Superintendent.
My main reason to come to Bungie were the weekly updates of exciting intel on Reach, both before and after launch. Even if I'm not contributing to the ARG solution efforts, I really feel like I can look back, just as other veterans have on ILB, IRIS, etc, and say "I was there.".

Edited by Lincoln Osiris: 2/14/2013 1:32:46 AMIt is so strange to hear this. My first Bungie game was Minotaur. I played it over a modem connection on my Mac IIsi 25 MHZ with 17MB of ram. I had an adapter to add the extra Meg. I played Pathways into Darkness, because Doom was WAY beyond my machine's specs. I bought a G3 Powermac when they announced Halo at the Mac expo. I got burned on that one. I guess that shows my age huh? About the same age as the guys making Destiny!

Man, if that makes you feel old, I feel almost jealous that you have gotten to see Bungie's development over the course of their titles. I've never played the old games, because their layout is so different, they're almost inaccessible to me. Welcome to the forum! Better late than never man, and here, we're all friends.

Welcome to Bungie (just seeing your join date) ! Make sure to play the ARG and coordinate your node activation with the rest of the community (there should be at least three threads about this in the forums.).

I know exactly how you feel, I missed the Superintendent by mere months, and the whole usage of capital "i"s and lower case "L"s seemed like a really fun and cool detail to parse. I definitely feel like I'm now a part of the community too, just being present here as a faceless bystander. Three cheers for Bungie, seriously.

Also...
having just begun my second decade of consciousness, but welcome to everyone.
Are you 10 ?

Also, right on with the SN ending in 64. Hehe.

OP is ten ?

Nope, but apparently less competent at writing than the average one. *sigh* I am beginning my third decade. :|

2 decades=20 years

I made the mistake of saying starting the second decade, instead of /finishing/ my second decade. It's kinda like how the year 2000 was the beginning of the 21st century, not the 20th.
