How well do you treat your equipment, and how proud of it are you?

Going through some of the different forums on the internet, I've seen a lot of musicians post about problems they have with breaking/damaging their equipment. So, I proudly stand before you with the claim that I have never broken a string on my guitar (been playing for three years) and I've never broken a drum stick--hickory, nylon, and http://images.guitarcenter.com/products/optionLarge/ProMark/DV016_Jpg_Large_443401_z2.jpg]these babies So, friends, how long does your equipment last? Do you treat it gently, like a fine Italian woman, or do you smack it around and relish its screams of terror as you beat it until it dies? And how proud are you? hahaha

 • My cousin was in several bands and had a collection of bases. When I was 14 he loaned me one of his Gibson EB3L long necks and a tubed amp. I had it for about 12 years before returning it. But I cared for that thing like it was a precious gem and returned it as nice as the day I received it.

 • I have a Fender Jazz Bass that is a little worn and beat up on the neck and headstock, but that's because I don't have a case for it. My Strat' doesn't have a scratch on it after one and a half years. I'm pretty proud of that. All three of my amps (two bass amps, one Vox tube amp) are in great condition.

 • I don't see how you could have played regularily for years and not broken a guitar string. Are they nylon?
