It is weird, I look at Jackals and grunts as these cute little covenant. However They're as tall as me..

Out of curiosity, where'd you get that from? Isn't Master Chief 7'2 in his armor, I have yet to see a jackal nearly as tall as him in the games. Was it mentioned in one of the books?

Jackals are usually crouched is why they don't appear so. When standing upright they weigh approximately 200lbs and are anywhere between 6' 8" and 7' tall. And yes, it's from some of the external non-game sources.

Oh thanks, I don't remember reading that from the books , but I probably glimpsed over it.

They mostly crouch, which makes them look smaller. Same goes for elites. They mostly have slightly bended knees. Sometimes in the games they roar and stretch upright and suddenly become giants compared to the chief.
