You are in control of your own user experience!
How much are you really taking advantage of this new power?
We now have thw ability to view only the content we want and in (almost) whichever order we want. We have the ability to hide specific topics or individual users. But how many people are actually making use of these features to improve their user experience on this site?
Which searching / viewing / filtering features do you find yourself using the most?

I either click on Community or All Topics. I can't be bothered to try and filter my experience. I like set forums to navigate through.

8 RepliesIf that's true, then why can't I control anything that I want to experience? --I can't put posts in chronological order --I can't divide threads into pages --I can't have this retarded sub-reply feature automatically expand --I can't save threads --I can't moderate private groups --I can't preview posts, so I have to just post it and then edit multiple times until the formatting is correct.

1 ReplyI've muted 3 people and it's not because they insulted me or something. I gave the people a couple chances but I kept seeing them create hatefull threads and post so I couldn't stand it. I think muting someone should be your last resort. As for the other features? I hide a lot of threads I don't want to gst involved with and I always use the "latest" tab so I can see what's new. It's a pretty awesome experience!

1 ReplyI like it. Banning specific users or individual posts is too time consuming, considering I typically just pop in, see whats up, then leave. I would rather be able to ban tags of my choice - then I could actually make #offtopic into something I would like. I have to say, the forced topic categories have really helped.

1 ReplyI haven't used my powers much. It's too confusing, so I've just been drinking from the fire hose and hoping for the best. I guess the changes will make sense later. But right now, it feels like we're being used as lab rats. I hope we'll get custom "SURVIVED THE BNET BETA" titles, or something.

I've found the "stay out of every forum except Sapphire" feature hugely useful in improving my user experience to the point where staying on this site is almost worthwhile.

We don't like seeing people frustrated or upset. The things that we do are meant to make things better. That might not seem fully apparent right now, since the only thing we can compare it to is the past year - a more intimate time when seemingly everyone in this community could know everyone else. Someday, we will do things to drive more casual fans back to this site. They'll rush in here with all the aplomb of a riot mob. They won't know about your forms of etiquette. The new blood will outnumber the old. On that day, these tools will be more useful than they are now. You'll have the ability to follow the people you like, and keep tabs on the conversations that are important. You'll have the ability to banish the people who cloud your view, and eliminate the conversations that aren't worth your attention.

Hopefully it will become much better after the beta. I'm glad I can mute the people I strongly dislike. And hey, if no one here likes me or hates my living guts, you can do the same. Haven't muted any users and don't plan to, I might hide a thread or two but by muting users I am essentially cutting down the potential of seeing a quality thread. Everyone makes a quality thread every once in a while.

You would think that with all this customization, it would be possible to appease both older members and (as DeeJ labeled them) "casuals". Why overlook the possibility that users may want a traditional, discussion-focused forum experience and choose to disable popularity sorting, following, and likes?

I really enjoy the mute or hide feature and notifications. I'm not going to lie as of now I don't like the hashtag system.

I've never really blocked anybody since I first joined. It just never really seemed worth the time; I'd rather see the forums in their entirety even if that means seeing a few ridiculous posters.

Constantly. I've muted quite a few users. And now if I recognize someone as an alt of another user? I instantly mute them too. So that's really handy. Never have to worry about obvious alt spam again. Cuz they'll just be wasting an even greater chunk of their lives than before.

Still learning on taking full advantage of all the new features. I've hid a few threads, but it's the tag's that I'm still playing around with.

It's nice to have the power over content like we now do, I just wish the default was a more friendly experience.
