While I do like the idea of everyone staying as equals, I do think that SOME rewards for posting/membership length are okay.
Notice that I said some. I've seen some other websites which are just lousy with awards/titles/badges, and it looks horribly cluttered.

Agreed. I think that in the posting field, badges should be hidden. But, in an ideal world, I imagine one's personal profile to be quite customizable with Badges and perhaps game-related stats available. The showcase profile system in Call of Duty-Black Ops 2 is something I'd love to see integrated into Bungie.net. Imagine being able highlight a screenshot, your personal site like twitter, showcase game achievements and calling cards/titles, and the like all on your profile page. Anyone who visits it can instantly get sucked into your content. Moreover, imagine a system by which you can promote your favorite groups directly on your profile by showing off your accolades earned there. With a crisp UI that doesn't look cluttered, it could make visiting someone's unique profile very interesting. But, in the scope of normal conversation, you wouldn't necessarily see the difference between individuals. We'll largely be the same and on even footing (save perhaps for avatars). Titles themselves could even be restricted to the profile page.

Ya I really like the idea of being able to show case even your off-Bungie content on your profile.
