Actually, if you take post-it notes and draw your own avatar on them (best to make multiple copies) you can then put all of your "custom" avatars down the left-hand side of your screen. Viola'! Instant Custom Avatars! Plus, you get the ego-boost of thinking that everyone loves your avatar SO much that they've all adopted it as their own! Of course you won't be able to see people's names and they'll all blend together, but hey, we were talking about ego weren't we?
