Before we start accusing America for having the most gun-related deaths out of all first world countries, you have to remember how massive the population of America is in comparison.

Except the population of the EU is 40% more and has less gun crime, to my knowledge.
-
Per Capita it is much higher than most other Western countries.
-
And a lot of the concentration is in urban areas which are statistically proven to have more crime and suicides than more rural areas.
-
Correct. I am not sure why this occurs, I will probably have to look at the data more closely.

It's due to poverty. Crime has always been associated with Poverty. America has a big problem with gang culture especially in cities. Being a resident of the Greater Los Angeles area, I see it every day though not as much if I lived in Urban or even Suburban LA county. There are certain parts of LA county that are complete and total shit holes because of the gang culture that surrounds it. Drug dealing, prostitution, petty theft, grand theft, burglary, murder. These neighborhoods have serious problems, and you know what they also have a problem with? Poverty. Kids grow up in this culture, they are brought up with the gang life, told they will make money, good money and bam, you have another gang member. It's a sad cycle and all attempts to fix it failed. Places like East LA, Watts, Compton, Long Beach. These are all places that have high poverty and crime rate. Want to lower the number of people killed by firearms each year, find a way to reduce poverty and get kids out of gangs and get them into school and get them successful. Taking away guns isn't going to do shit in these neighborhoods.
