[/quote] Yes, it is a more secular symbol, but that doesn't detract from the fact that Christmas is a religiously rooted holiday. As a symbol for a religious holiday, it can be seen as a symbol with religious roots as well. That is regardless of its Pagan origin (The holiday for which it started was likely religious as well). Like I said, it is a symbol in both senses, religious and secular.
