Does having a Christmas Tree in public really offend anyone???

I see this every year that people get offended that there is a Christmas Tree in like a town square, a public office, etc. It is now becoming more "politically correct" to say happy Holidays and saying "Merry Christmas" is becoming offensive. Isn't that a bit silly? It amazes me that people actually protest to have Christmas Trees removed from these places saying it offends them. How does a Tree offend you? Put up a Menorah or something too and people will calm down about the trees.
The thing is Christmas seems to be loosely tied to one belief now-a-days. It is a symbol of the holiday season and traditional to America culture. It is not something meant to offend someone's culture, it is part of the scenery.
Except for the whole CHRIST in its name and all, with SAINT Nick and all that... Think about it some more. If you were here and the ONLY public holiday was celebrating the faith you weren't in...
I am not trying to make this religious but I think that removing these things relating to one even to be politically "fair" makes the holidays less enjoyable for others. People like seeing the Christmas trees, kids like meeting Santa, in our culture today this is the norm for the holidays. Even if I didn't "believe" in the holidays, I wouldn't go out of my way to ruin traditions and make the holiday less enjoyable for others. I don't see how something existing should make me mad if it is optional to be involved in it. If someone gets so mad at the sight of a Christmas Tree that they demand it is taken down, they have problems or need to learn to chill. [Edited on 11.29.2012 6:57 PM PST]
