Maybe the Didact didn't survive.

I thought his voice at the end was him reflecting on the humans kicking his butt during their war 100,000 years prior. I don't recall the exact wording, but I assumed this was that or perhaps the weird "second form" thing the Forerunners take on when they die (Bornstellar talks about this in the beginning of Cryptum).

It's going to be interesting seeing a comparison between them being drawn out. I like the way Spartan Ops is heading in this respect. I hope they don't prove to be clones of each other. They share the same hatred (on the surface) but the way they're going to achieve their goal is different. We already know Didact just wanted to forcibly add humans to his army.
