For people asking themselves why they put the AR back in Halo 3: Remember what Bungie said about the AR: -We want the perfect respawn weapon. That's why your default spawning weapon is the AR (easy to find, lot of ammo, average damage etc...) If you want something better, just go for the BR. Also I think the AR fits the Marines very well.
