I'm currently studying Criminal Justice to one day be an officer myself. I believe that there was nothing wrong with what OP did. Surely the OP could have went about his day and not said or done a single thing. But he has a point, just because he is an officer that does not give him the authority to break the law himself. All cops should lead by example, and unfortunately, too many of them do not. Something like this may put the Officer back in his place and make him start leading by example once more. As a wannabe cop myself, nothing irritates me more than the people I look up to who don't even follow their own rules.
