You know how unimportant it was? When they ran out of time to flesh out the Brute Sandbox, instead of making the mauler, they just gave brutes Human Shotguns and claimed "Oh, Brutes like Human Tech." On the other hand, sure, the Spiker was cut, but they at least took the time to reskin a Plasma Rifle to make a new weapon. I honestly can't find myself crying tears over the likely demise of the Mauler. I can't answer your first question at the moment either. I'm glad that the Spiker is in the game, but it's not like I'm super suprised happy and overjoyed that it is in the game. If you've seen my Spiker thread, you should be able to understand that the Spiker's inclusion was pretty much certain in my mind, so my suprise when that above image was discovered came more from "Wow, we proved it was in the game this quickly?" compared to "Oh my gosh against all odds the Spiker is in the game!" I am curious to know just what tweaks it has seen and if it will appear in default multiplayer commonly. I await E3 where we will likely see it being used by Brutes.
