I think it's a matter of preference. For instance, in Campaign, the enemies usually spawn in the same place, so after 10 or so playthroughs, you basically know how it's going to be all the time.
In Multiplayer, it's dynamic and you constantly have to adjust your playing styles to fit each situation.
I personally am a Campaign person though, because of the music, the story, and the level designs. Multiplayer Maps are too small, and I prefer to work with teammates to fight enemies that aren't going to call me a bunch of names when they lose.
plus, Halo 2's campaign got me into halo.
