2016 will mark 20 years of Pokemon...
Any predictions on how Nintendo will celebrate this milestone?
I think there'll be a Poke-explosion in Japan, to be honest.

They will reveal that they've actually been genetically modifying animals since long before the first iteration of Pokemon was revealed and Nintendo will announce real living Pokemon, having centers all over the world they will give a 1 week notice and give away 6 Pokeballs to each person to have bought the latest game including a letter that says good luck. These would only work on the genetically modified Pokemon and they would release them into the world. Chaos would ensue, and only those who could tame Pokemon would survive. There will be a huge war, one that would shatter the Earth. Some races of Pokemon will become extinct, the school system will be no more. Boys and girls will go out in this new world years from now after the war, 10 years old, trained to harness the power of these creatures, and sent out by their parents so as they've been secretly instructed by their overlords Game Freak®. Competitions will be created, to celebrate these creatures, secretly being organized by Game Freak®. People will fight to survive, and hopefully one day overcome the evil organization. Some people, that were there at the start of the war will devote their lives to study of these creatures and will discover extinct species. They will act excited and with joy and report these to the masters but they will be in fear, in fear of the power. ... The day shall come when all Pokemon are released by Game Freak® from their Trainer's hands and all people will feel the pain and horror as the creatures they have learned to control will devour them. Those will be the end days, where nothing will be left. Only Pokemon will roam the lands, with the last remaining human, will bargain for his life in return for teaching these pokemon his language and showing these Pokemon how to create a working civilization. At the end of his life, he will turn on them a Fail-Safe implanted in their DNA, would destroy them all, he will pull the switch and many of the creatures will fall although over the years, they will have evolved in new ways, the old would fall but the young, will survive, and build up. One day recreating humans, and the cycle shall begin anew.

It was originally released as a game for the Gameboy. The Gameboy came out in 1989 so it couldn't have been released in the 70's.
