Are the spartan ops episodes meant to be taken seriously as canon?
To be honest, I dropped Halo 4 as a game, but I'm still interested in canon, clearly.
So to start out: Exactly when do the spartan ops episodes start? After the events of Halo 4?
So Halsey was also on the Infinity, couldn't she recreate Cortana?

He's not going to take another AI as replacement, and he's certainly not going to accept a copy of Cortana.

Spartan Ops takes place six months after the end of Halo 4. Also, I think Halsey could use whatever remained of Cortana in MC's armor to recreate her, but I don't know for certain.

For the Spartan Ops episodes, you play as Crimson team, but the videos for each episode fill in what team majestic (the blues) are doing. It is a bit misleading because it just drops your normal matchmaking spartan in place of a Crimson team member. I would recommend replaying all the missions (on normal) one afternoon and watching all the videos. It's easier to tie things together when you get all the info at once.

Apparently, this is also illegal so I doubt she was able to recreate Cortana or anything similar. They'll probably introduce another smart A.I, unless the Chief refuses. I really like the search for Spock idea. It's seems the most fitting for the story.

You can't just "create" or "recreate" an AI. Cortana was made from a clone of Halsey's brain, and if Halsey tried it again, it'd be unlikely to work, and the AI would have a different personality and be a different person

Halsey was [i]brought[/i] onto the Infinity in one of the episodes to study the Forerunner tech. Why would she need to recreate Cortana? It would just be like creating just another AI. It would not be the same as Cortana, since it would not have any of the knowledge the original Cortana had.
