Question caused by this post
Now, everything that's in my head has an 80% chance of being false, so definitely take this all as speculation.
1. From things I've read, I've been under the impression that all usernames are tied to WLID accounts for right now.
2. If we'll soon be able to change our account names, this means that things won't be so heavily tied to WLID, if at all.
3. If there is a transition away from WLID accounts, will we need to recreate our accounts with new Email addresses?
4. If so, Will our current usernames be placed on "hold", or will everything be free game when Bungie.next is released?

Obviously, none of us know for sure, but I imagine we will keep something from our accounts (join date, trust rating, etc) as DeeJ has hinted several times that veteran members will not be forgotten.

I don't know if I'm ready to see my ladykiller name go away yet.

DeeJ confirmed a couple months ago that our accounts are going to be quite safe for the transition. I'd imagine that we won't be fully breaking away from WLID, due to the fact that it's the only way to attached our XBL gamertags to our bungie.net profile. Sure, there will be name changes, but as far as creating a new account, highly unlikely.

I hope we won't have to recreate our accounts/rejoin our groups/relink gamertags/etc. Hopefully, we can just log onto our old accounts without having to redo anything.

Until Bungie.next is out, the answer to ALL of your questions is "Soon". Considering that's the only answer the give regarding any questions we have these days.
-
I doubt we will have to recreate our accounts.
-
I don't think we have to recreate our accounts, but I suppose you are waiting for an employee to post here. I don't know if they'll reveal this stuff yet though..

I'm sure one of us knows the answer to this question.
