And now, dear Muses, tell the tale
Of Blimper's betrayal.
Just what slight caused the New to fail
This noble general?
He surely had proven his worth,
Truly deserved his rank.
He'd helped the New since on this Earth,
Naught but his strength to thank.
By carrying a sword and shield
He'd cut through the Old lines.
A brilliant mind he did too wield,
Which soon fostered his climb.
This city known as the New Flood
Had been won by Blimper.
The vict'ry'd cost him little blood,
And with him 'd been simpler.
He truly was a tactician,
And was McGee's right hand.
So what had caused the defection
Of the New's strongest man?
To answer such a query now
We must look to the past,
And discover exactly how
Blimper'd been slighted last.
'Twas in the battle for this city
That he'd received the news.
The gods on him took no pity,
Spared not him their abuse.
His wife and children were slaughtered,
His village had been burned.
But knowing this he'd not falter,
He took no time to mourn.
'Twas a nomadic tribe of trolls
That caused the destruction.
The monsters had been vastly cruel,
And spared no anyone.
He now thought only of revenge,
To slit the demons' throats.
He begged McGee to help avenge,
And asked for fifty boats.
But years passed since that victory,
And Blimper remained there.
McGee had told Blimper that he
Would not go anywhere.
McGee'd been injured yesterday,
And now was Blimper's chance!
If he led, the battle would sway
Into the New Flood's hands.
He cared no more for this conflict
Of tradition and age.
There was but one wrong to correct,
And he was being caged.
But the soldiers needed McGee
To lead them in this fight.
And he needed the strategies
That were Blimper's true might.
And so Blimper was turned away
To deal with his fire.
But one more was present that day
Who knew Blimper's desire.
A spy approached the general
To offer him a deal:
Grant the Old knowledge tactical,
And they'd offer their steel.
So Blimper spent a restless night
To make his decision.
Could he forsake the New Flood's fight
To seek retribution?
But hatred will always drive man
To goals dang'rous and strange.
And Blimper's vengeance would demand
This alliance arranged.
As the armies began to clash
He knew what he must do.
The trollish throats he wished to slash
Were guarded by the New.
So Blimper gave a mighty roar,
And called his men to arms.
He'd not be halted anymore
From avenging his harm.
