I just curious, will the new website we keep hearing about supports the latest version of HTML 5?
Also, I would like to ask the reason behind the using of HTML 5 if it not so discreet to share.

It's like playing with the Android's watery background effect.

Posted by: dazarobbo
Posted by: PsychoTEX Geez I hope it doesn't. The Waypoint website is a joke because of it. SO slow.
Uh, no. The reason it's slow is likely because of the forum software, database, bandwidth constraints, or their use of SSL all over the site.
I heard it runs off the back end of the Xbl servers devoted to tracking halo 4 and halo reach. It's not running in a dedicated environment.
Posted by: PsychoTEX Geez I hope it doesn't. The Waypoint website is a joke because of it. SO slow.
I just went to that site. It is a terrible website. Here's two websites using HTML5; they should load really fast and you should see some elegant animations. Although that depends on your web browser. I recommend Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Safari (for Mac). http://dastaschenwerk.eu http://mckinney.com Here's a bad example: http://www.lingscars.com I'd personally add to the bad example list any Flash-based website. Oh stosh.. I could never truly blame you :) Sorry, did I wake you up? Blame me instead :)

A website cannot "support" HTML5. HTML5 is a set of features and standards. If you want to mangle things, it's ok. So what you want to know is, does bungie.next utilize the newest features of HTML5? I would like to know this too. [Edited on 11.06.2012 9:33 PM PST]
Posted by: F3nrix Sorry to go off-topic but, why does Stosh have a standard avatar? I thought they all had unique ones. Once again, sorry for the off-topic comment.
No need to be sorry, my dude. You be you. But yeah, some of them don't. Some of them have submitted avi's that just haven't been updated. hdubya is on the web team and he doesn't have one, neither does DrBunsenHoneydew. © [Edited on 11.06.2012 7:00 PM PST]
Posted by: T1B3R7uMB0YXVI HTML 5 is similar to Flash, but it's more of a integrated WebGL userinterface. Here's an example; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_dtejEbN6s
That's not how I would describe it. In the context you're referring to it in, it merely includes APIs (WebGL, Canvas, Audio, etc...) which renders Flash somewhat obsolete. Importantly though, this technology is now standardised and Microsoft, incredibly, is actually sticking to them this time (for the most part).
