I have noticed that the past two contests have had some sort of drama. Can anyone actually confirm that people are rigging the votes?
I'm active in a few different groups on this site and to be honest I think a few people were mislead by a few posts. To be honest I don't feel as though it's wrong for someone to ask for votes in a private group, using alts or some other means though is wrong.
What does the community think about people asking for votes in private groups?
*Please do not single people out ITT.*

People are rigging contests over a t-shirt? That's just sad.
Posted by: Anti Gov420 Only time I use a semi-colon is to indicate "end of block". Do you think alts were used to decide the winners of the two previous contests?
About the semi-colon: I read grammatically more than the average user so it just came across a bit awkward. Feel free to leave it :) As for the alts? I believe they have been used but there is no way to prove it. Maybe if the site was a bit more updated there could be some feature on the poll where you can click a link that has a list of all the users that voted for a particular option. All of the newly created/obvious alt accounts on that list could be nullified as votes, but we sadly don't have anything like that. No one joins this site just to vote on a poll, that is why I said obvious alt accounts. [Edited on 10.10.2012 3:59 PM PDT]

I agree with OP, asking for votes should be fine as long as YOU don't use alts, which to my knowledge no one has ever since I have no proof and can't make false assumptions of foul play. But, if Deej says it is not okay to ask for votes in private groups, I am sure we will all be happy to oblige. These contests are for fun and bring everyone together, no need to cause a commotion on the mains. I hope we continue to see the contests grow and we continue to get more community involvement. I like how the community webteam has made strides to get us to more creative and make our time here more fun. [Edited on 10.10.2012 4:00 PM PDT]

Honestly, I find it more silly than I find it upsetting. I imagine we'll be going back to employee judging soon enough, and that will be that.

It's fine. These contests are all for fun. The prize is a Bungie sweatshirt(correct?), no one is losing out if they don't win. Alts are more of a problem though. If 10 people each have 3 alts, that's potentially 30 votes in for one person, which can throw the contest. Maybe I'm just an optimist, but I don't think that's been the case with these recent polls. Unfortunately there's no counter to this yet, but as I said before, it's all for fun.
