I have an iPhone 3G, but it's getting old. It no longer supports any new iOS releases, some applications don't work/can't be downloaded, there's a crack down the back of it, etc...
So here's what I need:
- Email, support for multiple addresses/accounts, and especially IMAP support for Exchange
- WiFi
- VPN
- Calendar support (preferably for multiple calendars) that can be sync'd with Exchange
- Phone, SMS, contacts (especially those that can be sync'd to Exchange)
- Media player (audio, video)
- PDF reader
- Office document reader (.docx, etc...)
- Web browser (preferably with Flash support as well)
- Maps (GPS would be nice)
- Telnet/SSH support
- Custom application support (a la, iTunes Store), but also something that allows me to write my own stuff and load it onto the device
Suggestions?

Either the Galaxy III or a windows phone. The only issue with windows based phones, is the lack of an android marketplace. Its replaced with windows marketplace, which is obsolete.
-
Android phones are the only thing that match what you want.

iPhone 5 duh Galaxy s3 has Android which has tons of bugs and is complex to use. Not to mention that literally all of the features they advertise on it are beyond stupid and impractical. Also that huge screen that is impossible to use with one hand productively.

Helps me a lot thanks! The reason I say this, is because I am looking to get an IPhone but don't know which one to get. I mean I like the 5 but the 4s does everything that I need it to do but at a cheaper price. :D [Edited on 10.08.2012 11:48 AM PDT]

I don't know if I could go back to just being able to text and call. I need internet and apps. Pretty sad really.
I have enough money to afford a better phone. I guess it's part Pringles-logic (once you pop..), and being too lazy to actually upgrade.

Don't forget to eat your older phone to gain it's power

iPhone 5. Is this a serious thread?
-
Choices seem to be: Android Windows Phone Apple But I still have my good 'ol Motorola V3XX so I can't speak from experience with any of those.

My 4S does almost/all of those things fine except Flash, although I haven't really found myself needing it loads. Recently I started making more use of the calendar, so everything from fb and my Uni timetable are all linked in. If you've been using Chrome a lot you can download the app and sync everything, battery life is good. Good luck with your choice!
-
I'd say iPhone 5. A major bonus is that you wont have to transfer anything over manually. All you have to do is plug in you phone to iTunes and away you go.
-
If you can afford it then get the Iphone 5. Otherwise get the Iphone 4S.
Posted by: dazarobbo
Posted by: Toad117 I bet you started noticing problems in processing speed and battery life when you installed iOS 5. Seems like Apple doesn't give a care about their older models to make a fix. In any case stay away from Apple.
Nope. I have iOS 4.2.1 and can't update it any more.
That's unusual, considering I have a 3GS and I was able to update it to iOS 5. I suppose support for Apple products has its limits. Oh well, good luck with your decision!

I think the new Nokia 920 would be best. It has everything you need and I think Windows Phone 8 would be easier to use coming off from the iPhone. It has one of the best smartphone cameras to. Image stabilization works great along with it's amazing ability to take great low light pictures. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bfY_KbXRFY And the screen is also the best in the market. It has a super sensitive touch to where you can use gloves, pens and even forks on the screen and it will move.

Get a Backberry and a leather jacket, maybe some aviator sunglasses. That's the cool way to shop.

iPhone 4S? They're pretty cheap if you're on a budget. No idea if it meets your requirements. [Edited on 10.07.2012 11:09 PM PDT]

I know for a fact that my old outdated Droid 3 does all that, so I'd imagine anything in the Droid line will do all of that. Can't say the same of Apple, since Flash isn't necessarily supported all that well and maps have already been well established as terrible on their product.

Samsung Galaxy III
