How does one cope with the fact that this person doesn't exist, and never will?

Because concept and reality are two very different things, you can love the concept of a person but in reality they don't exist, the same way someone can love the concept of Unicorns.

There are varying forms of love. I can love a fictional character and be content with the fact that they don't exist.
