Here is the UK version skip to 2:10 for Connor killing them
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oYtCAsqQ2g
And here is the NA version that has it edited out.
Its pretty interesting at how Ubisoft is fine showing redcoats being killed to UK viewers but cant show it to Americans. I guess Kotaku is right Ubisoft thinks Americans cant handle the sight of there own ancestors being killed but in the UK we apparently can
Posted by: Mysten (very, very patriotic) country's history and make it appear to say, "hey, your historical national heroes are the bad guys in this."
Americans aren't THAT patriotic, this stereotype is stupid.
-
It's marketing, that's why. You're trying to hook new fans with marketing, not existing ones. The fastest way to lose the interest of potential new American fans is to take what is commonly considered the proudest moment in their (very, very patriotic) country's history and make it appear to say, "hey, your historical national heroes are the bad guys in this."
Posted by: DarkSunnyboy1 America can't handle their country not being perceived as perfect.
If you actually read anything Americans have said in this thread you'd realize that Americans really couldn't give a dick if blue coats die in a trailer. The only people who'd even make a big deal out of it are the folks over at Fox News. Anyway, I've personally seen more Brits get angry at the fact that red coats are being killed than I've seen Americans angry that blue coats are. They seem the to be the ones who make threads complaining about it after all.

Apparently on the AC Facebook page some Americans were complaining about the new Washington DLC announced because they didn't want him as an enemy
-
Might be considered insensitive to have it in the trailer, but it honestly isn't that big of a deal.
-
Well we can both agree that there are significantly more redcoats in the game so it would be kinda hard to hide their killings.

Yeah, this is just dumb. There's really nothing else to say. Give the real version to everyone, the people who get hurt feelings over a few bluecoats dying in a game aren't really worth your time.

I guess Kotaku is right Ubisoft thinks Americans cant handle the sight of there own ancestors being killed but in the UK we apparently can
Pretty much. The greater American public sees Britain as the villains of the Revolution and America as the heroes because it's the story of their own formation. the British just see it as "Yeah, that's a thing that happened once. We used to control that land, now we don't," it isn't a story of heroes and villains. Which is why in the NA trailers there's no footage of killing the Americans because that would be killing the "heroes," but you kill the British all the time in their trailers because they're just taking it as historical accuracy.
I just want to add to this something I heard from a funny British man once. "We weren't all that concerned with some petty squabbles in the Colonies. There were Frenchmen to fight."
-
Do americans still get the dlc where you kill George Washington?
Posted by: Onca Rapotee I would of cancelled my preorder a long time ago the moment I heard about the season pass. But my fiance wants it. :\
You don't have to get the season pass.. Just buy what you want seperately.. I thought that was just common sense.

The UK is used to losing, they've done it a lot. The US? The mere thought is traumatizing. OT: Nobody calls them blue coats...?

YALL JUS HATURZ AMERICA #1 HOME OF TEH EAGLE CAWWWWWWW -blam!- ALL YA CAWWWWWWW
Posted by: CoolCJ24
Posted by: Snake Plissken This is ridiculous. I honestly can't recall a single game in which the Americans are the baddies.
Modern Warfare 2, General Shepard and Shadow Company?
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker: Coldman was a former CIA Director and his group is called the Peace Sentinels.(Which are all American.) Coldman almost used Peace Walker to launch a nuke at Cuba.

OK, OP.
Posted by: MadMax888 Ah yes. Let's just pretend that the soon-to-be Americans suffered no deaths during their battles against the British. Because 'Merica. And eagles. And NASCAR.
And football.
Posted by: General Scar
Posted by: GPK Ethan As an American, I agree.
Posted by: TwistedDippy666 I find this completely stupid, Americans are always the "winners" in games these days. I wouldn't mind seeing a game where america actually loses for once.

But you see THIS IS *MURICA and in *MURICA we never lose
If you dont like 'MURICA, YOU CAN GEEET OUT!

I laugh at people who are actually offended by this. America can't handle their country not being perceived as perfect.
-
It is less that Americans can't handle it as avoiding a possible political shitstorm from conservatives that have a hard on for patriotism to the point where anything that slighty goes against the US in some way. Personally, I wouldn't mind the trailer either way. It seems more like people from UK get upset that they only show redcoats dying anyway.
