You're in for a treat this week.
Stephen Hodde is Breaking In, and - like his collegue David Henry - he is at no loss for words about his work, or how he learned to do it. This interview is chock full of multimedia and insight. Enjoy, as I did.
Special thanks to NMcKinley who requested what turned out to be this two-week series about Audio Design. They've been a real pleasure to conduct, and we love to satisfy your specific curiosities.

That sound is still humming inside of me.

He went to NYU! I don't go too school too far from there :) [Edited on 10.01.2012 4:08 PM PDT]

All these are so cool.
-
That was another good read. It's nice to see the story behind all these people.
-
Man, this is one hell of an interview. This guy sounds like he really loves his job. I want to one day love my job as much as he does. Great read, and awesome that there was an incorporation of images and video. Deej, more of that if you can in the future!
-
Ah this guy has got one of my dream jobs. I'd love to be an audio designer/sound engineer from video games or movies.
-
I just got into Magic through the XBLA game. Although it's something I wouldn't mind playing in person, I hear from folks it's crazy expensive. Cards rotate and get banned frequently.
Posted by: WestCoastRonin Junkyard environment confirmed for Bungie's next game! :) Nice Breaking In!
No man, Marathon displays downstairs? Marathon reboot confirmed!

Those were awesome trailers and I loved reading about his background. People's creativity can be expressed in so many forms.
-
Nice breaking in!
-
Proof that even the staff doesn't use the News Forum.

The sound guys are definitely one of the most important parts of a game IMO. Skyrim to me wouldn't be the same if I didn't here the foliage crackling beneath my feet. or the sound of me drawing back my bow, about to silence another target

CONFIRMED: In Bungie's next game, "Junkyard," you play a rogue trash collector who knows that an ounce of vengeance is worth a pound of experience. Loved this interview! Great sound is one of the most underappreciated parts of a video game, and it's awesome to see the hard work and skill that these folks bring to the table. [Edited on 10.01.2012 12:57 PM PDT]

That was one of the better ones. Though next time I demand more short witty answers!
-
Cool. Hey, I do Muay Thai, too! [Edited on 10.01.2012 11:49 AM PDT]

This is a nice breaking in. A great read.
-
that first video was quite violent.
-
Awesome that was pretty cool
-
I've been asking Urk for ages to interview the Audio designers. I loved Stephen's Bioshock trailer. It was brilliant!
-
If I could pick any job in the world... this would be it. Awesome breaking-in. :)
