Here's how I see it, it takes "different" skill but not more. Those who say it does should do some gameplay and actually research it. Halo 3 I think it's 30-40% skill and the rest PURE luck with spawning and timing. Also your weapon over theirs.
COD I think is just camping and one shotting. COD is not really skill, but advantage. A 5 star general has way more perks than a recruit or a colonel so if it came down to it a general" with more exp" would easily win just from a couple little perks, not really skill.
However if a recruit did beat a general then I would put that into the skill category of COD.

It is a matter of opinion.

All I'm saying is that halo 3 is not perfect. There are many things wrong with it that cannot be changed. What im saying is some days u win every match and u massacre the enemy team."righ rankers or not". And then you might play some one that is so far beneath you, and they end up winning. not by skill just by 70% luck with spawns and kept gettin random double kill fragz. Then they brag about their SKILL.
lol. if you get 3 of your colonel friends, and i invite 3 random people off my friends list we would demolish you every single game. you can call it luck or whatever you want, but we would run you every game. that's because halo 3 takes quite a bit of skill, and you suck ass and are forced to make excuses.
As arrogant as Screamo is, he has a point here. Individual skill does play a big role in H3. Personally, I don't have much of it, but I have respect for those who do.
-
LOL. I have played 3 games of social in about 4 months and I bet that if I got 3 people off my list who hardly play halo any more and you got 3 colonel buddies who still play daily, you'd get destroyed. 70% luck because of spawns?? If my team stayed on our side of the map the whole game you'd still lose. Lol. People who get a legit 50 are 50s for a reason, they're better than 99% of the ranks below them. Ive only ever run into a small % of players who were legitimately ranked lower than me and they were better. I found them in MLG.

You can win in CoD if you have the gun that shoots the fastest. Halo has shields that counter that, though.
Posted by: iTz Hermione anyone can get highest level in CoD games, not everyone can in halo 3 ...
You sure put some thought into that.

stop now! cod is about mentality, remenber that. Halo is about tactical/decision making gameplay. understand?
-
I would say it's about 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will. This is an obvious troll thread, but I'll reply anyway. CoD and Halo are very different. It takes a lot longer to kill someone in Halo, (1v1 combat) so you need to keep a good constant aim the whole time. In CoD it is simply whoever sees the other person first gets the kill. tl;dr. Halo 3 requires more aim, CoD requires more map awareness.

halo 3 - you actually have to work as a team call out ect to obtain the highest rank cod - do what ever you want and obtain 15th prestige or what ever its at now
-
I haven't played H3 in a long time so I don't really know what it's like today, but when I did I had a negative KD and couldn't get past 40. I'm currently holding a 2+ KD in MW3 and at least a 1.5 in both MW2 and COD4. I'd say that about explains things. Keep in mind that COD does require some skill to play due to the myriad of weapons that can 1 hit kill, but Halo takes a little more. More than anything it takes teamwork, which is something that the COD franchise has never promoted.

i read the title and i disagree.

Em, well I actually sort of agree. It takes some skill, but not nearly as much as halo. There's a lot of variables which make it hard to take cod seriously. In cod, there is no map control in pub games. It's only competitive in a competitive scene because people joining and leaving completely ruin map flow and balance. Also, you don't start out with every option on the table. In cod you have to level up and unlock items which is very unbalanced. In Halo everyone has a shot at the best weapon and is given the same starting weapon. As far as shooting and aiming I think it's hard to compare. There is far less aim assist and auto acceleration than any Halo game which is a plus. Bloom hurts the reliability of a gun, but burst firing it can increase the skill gap. I guess that balances out for cod. I'm not a fan of hitscan (cod uses this) which ruins many games for me and is why I prefer Halo 3. Projectiles are more realistic and in halo 3's case they help balance the sandbox. Sniping obviously takes more skill in halo 3 than in any call of duty. I've always felt like there was a bigger skill gap in sniping in Halo 3 than Reach or Halo 2. Black Ops 2 is going to have a win/loss system for ranked playlists. I believe there are going to be playlist specific restrictions. It may mean no drop in/drop out for those playlists. These are necessary changes if we are going to take cod seriously as a competitive game. Also, there's things in halo like trick jumping/shortcuts that are not in call of duty at all. Head glitching and lines of sight could be the only counter cod has that halo doesn't. [Edited on 09.12.2012 3:29 AM PDT]
Posted by: Water Beetle
Posted by: II gaped II lol you are very confused... Learning weapon spawns and spawn points takes skill and time... COD takes no skill at all, It's just a sprint and one shot type of a game
But it does take skill to actually stay alive since you die so easily
The same argument could be used for saying that Call of Duty takes no skill. If getting kills is so easy, then it doesn't take as much (if any) skill to stay alive. In my opinion, weapon spawns and shields in Halo is what mainly makes it take more skill to play decently than Call of Duty. You could say that it's easier to stay alive in Halo than Call of Duty since it's harder to kill someone, but the weapon spawns compensate for that. [Edited on 09.11.2012 7:59 AM PDT]

You'd be stupid to think Call of Duty took no skill, but to think it takes as much skill as Halo 3? Lack of understanding is clear.
