•
Posted by: Dr Syx
Posted by: General Heed Didn't they try that in Halo: Reach though with a classic playlist and later the Halo Anniversary playlists? As I recall, it didn't turn out so great...
There's a few major differences here: 1. Bungie didn't put the playlist out on release. 2. It was community created with community developed maps using Forge. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing in terms of how well it played (It actually played VERY well in my opinion) a lot of people didn't gravitate towards it because of the amount of Forge World maps. 3. There are things in Reach that are hard coded in that break a lot of the classic feel. One major thing was the strafe inertia where you're stopped for a second when trying to strafe back and forward. That sort of stuff really messes with the feel. The faster movement speeds also felt "floaty" because the game wasn't designed with it in mind as default. In Halo 4, there will be tools to create a truly classic feel. Faster default movement speeds that won't feel floaty, higher jump height by default, many more weapons to work with, much better strafing, etc. If 343 Industries has a playlist from launch that has more of a classic feel without custom loadouts, instant respawn, etc. then it's more likely that people will gravitate to it. If people don't, the Halo community is filled with absolute hypocrites for complaining right now. ":D" (By the way, the Anniversary Classic Playlist isn't doing bad. I play on it often when I get on Reach. I don't know where you got the idea that playlist isn't doing well.)
I didn't think it was doing well because a lot of the Halo 3 and Halo Reach forums are filled with threads about how Halo: Reach sucks or how 343 is going to screw up Halo 4 and how many playlists in Halo: Reach suck and so on. I actually never personally played the Anniversary playlist. I never even bothered to use the code in my Halo anniversary game to download the map packs (not that I'd need to anyways). I quit playing Halo: Reach awhile ago, I got fed up with it. The only Halo game I play nowadays is Halo 3. Occasionally I'll play Halo 2 Vista, but xbox-wise, Halo 3 is the only Halo game I play. I actually still get enjoyment out of playing campaign. There's really only a few missions I can still play for fun, but overall, the campaign of Halo 3 has great replay-value in my world.

Think about it and see if it makes sense like that. :D (Don't take it offensively, please. xD) It definitely should have been a feature in the game. It should have even been a feature in Combat Evolved PC. Kills me that neither have it.
Ah, I knew something did not look right! Lol, I put it in bold too.
Fix'd, unless Hampy's AI syncing actually ends up working.

 •
Posted by: Super PolarBear Joining a game in the middle of a match
Might end up being a preference.
instant respawns
Confirmed for FFA and might be for Team Slayer. Not in objectives.
random weapon drops
It's not random. Listen to the newest podcast from 343.
customizable loadouts
While this will be for most playlists/gametypes, I'm not too upset about it. The number one thing I hate about playing Halo is having to deal with bad starting weapons. Never again. :D
On topic, Online Co-op should of been one of many features to ship with Halo 2 Vista.
Should have been* You probably heard "Should've been" and thought it was "Should of been". •
Posted by: Dr Syx
Posted by: General Heed I'm going to miss classic Halo multiplayer. At this point, Halo 2 Vista and Halo 3 are the only Halo games left with classic Halo multiplayer style. That's why it's important to me that Halo 2 Vista remains alive for as long as possible. It's one of the last remaining legacies of Halo 2.
... or we'll get some playlists out of box with classic Halo gameplay. Frankie has been saying on NeoGAF that there will be options for people to play whatever they want on day one. This is just speculation (So is pretty much everything people have been saying) but that seems to suggest there will be a "Classic" playlist one day one. The classic Halo way with faster movement speed and jump height increases makes me a happy camper when thinking about it... It could also mean a custom games browser... It's not likely but a boy can dream, can't he? Can't he!?
Didn't they try that in Halo: Reach though with a classic playlist and later the Halo Anniversary playlists? •
Posted by: Dr Syx
Posted by: General Heed Yep, according to the Game Informer article about Halo 4 as well as IGN, Halo 4's online co-op lets players join in the middle of a session. The same goes for multiplayer. Essentially, the multiplayer works like CoD's multiplayer where matchmaking just puts you in a random server that may already have a game running. Personally, I prefer the previous prefer the previous Halo games where it starts a new game everytime.
I'm pretty sure it never said that happened with campaign as well; it just said that happened in multiplayer.
Yeah you're right, I just watched again and all they said was multiplayer. However, since it is the Halo: Reach Engine, you should still have the ability to leave a campaign game in progress without ending the game. Perhaps they'll improve on that a bit more, but we'll see.

It's actually better than Halo 3's online co-op in some ways. Mainly how players can kind of join a campaign game in progress. That wasn't possible until Halo 4.
