My God, It's Full of Stars - The Destiny Map - [EARTH LOCATION]

See this map Looks pretty familiar right? Here's the full write up where I grabbed the image from.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerto_Princesa

INTRODUCTION
It's been a long time since I've posted anything near this big. I'm a little tense and afraid of it due to its sheer immensity, but I'm gonna give it a good go. But first, a quick note about "Destiny". It's the name of their next game. Just to clear up any confusion some folk may have about the name of the thread. It hasn't been officially announced by Bungie as of yet, but multiple sources on the Internets would also tell you the same. I'm sure none of you are strangers to the Bnet's fancy background. In all of its dazzling mystique and curious appearance. Are those galaxies? Star-charts? Constellations? Feathers? Bacon? Well, there's a Destiny blog out there that I believe a lot of the Universe-forum regulars may be familiar with; Waiting For Destiny. They've been doing a fantastic job over the past few months. Making fantastic progress at compiling information, providing theories and posing queries. A lot of fantastic work.
THE STAR CARTOGRAPHER
What I'm specifically interested in is what the author, Daniel Duncan, has compiled on Page 3. A composite image of the entire set of images that have been found so far. In it you can see a lot of very curious things. Two things, in particular, being two very noticeable and out of place pure white circles. These both seemed rather too odd to be a natural part of the environment that we've been used to. I had initially considered that they might be bowls in the ground, but, and Daniel has drawn the same conclusion, that these tie in with Dead Orbit somehow. My first reasoning for this is that in previous images of these areas of the map, they aren't there at all. This makes me believe they are mobile of some sort. Additionally, looking at the - what we assume to be - Dead Orbit graphic shirt, it seems there's a link between it and the "two random dots" found on this card. At least, I think there must be. They seem pretty important (well, they're not exactly pretty to look at, and certainly don't fit in with the rest of the image, so it's curious that they exist). You can also see one here. I really like the composite image he made, but I wasn't convinced with the mini-map color example he made. So I've decided to analyse the image and make my own, complete with a Key.
THE MAP OF DESTINY

* Step 1: Initial Underpainting - COMPLETE Involved isolating the painting strokes from the black background and miscellaneous images in the original composite image, and deciding what sort of ground is located where in the image. Also came to a conclusion about the various graphics found in the map and constructed a key to help you understand the map clearer. * Step 1.1 - Made some minor edits to the map (mostly the central mountain).

* Step 2: Topography Redux - COMPLETE Involved repainting the composite image to make the entire image cleaner.

* Step 3: Refined Painting - In Progress Will essentially involve adding extra layers of light/dark values to the underpainting to provide a sense of lighting. I plan on concentrating on the centre of the image.
Step 3.1 - Tested my painting in 3D to see how it looked. If you have anything to add about the map I've made, if I'm behind on information, or if you have your own version of what you think the map is, then definitely post it here! I've been mulling over this whole map in the back of my mind for months now, and I'm happy to say that I am very confident that I've cracked the topography. There are some elements I'm unsure of, but that's based mostly on the sheer lack of map-elements that are still missing that would help me make a much more coherent image. • Spaceport terminals? I still think the equatorial location would make this a prime location for a port. Factions that control the polar caps are trying to insinuate themselves in Earth's last freerunning port? Points of strategic influence? Or just indicators of things like weapons market, mechanics/upgrades, food/hydrogen suppliers? I do like the floating a la death star type idea though, maybe some sort of tether between Earth and a floating space platform?

 • We still have a mystery on our hands. What's the significance of the circles on some of Bungie's adaptions of the map? They're clearly not present in the originals. Since we have discovered this is indeed a map, what are these giant circles? Are they on the ground? Are they location markers? Or are they floating death-star style? wat.

No, I mean, literally. Into those underground rivers.
I would like to focus it into more space faring or battles and capable to travel from planet to planet, that would be neat.

Remembering this Myth came to my Head. based on "un-confirmed" accusations from other sources Destiny is supposed to be a MMO, And if they are working with Blizzard then we can infer the possibility of destiny's terrain to be similar to World of War craft. So I'd relax on that one. My speculation is we'll be playing on air, sea, land, planets, space and the whole gamut of environment experiences really. As for Bungie working with Blizzard I've never heard of that one specifically before. Bungie signed with Activision who are also Blizzard but I seriously doubt the developers are mixing and sharing between each other. If they are then WOW meets Halo is an interesting concept. Although I reserve judgement they'd share game engine assets. I think Bungie are tooling up a new engine from the ground up mate. Bungie are also heading into next generation so it makes sense to move on a complete new engine. After all a lot of the staff and Bungie would be let go completely if they were outsourcing the engine or taking one off the shelf. I don't think that is Bungie's style.
I agree with the your accusation on the possibility of not only being in space but also on other terrain as well. And the engine you speak of If I remember correctly It is called the Umbrella Engine. That being said; with the use of this engine I am sure it is new to the developers and may take some time getting used to, However I am interested to see how Destiny will turn out. Also Being a game developer myself I am trying to get my hands on that engine but I haven't done much searching yet. As I am not 100% Sure of the Umbrella engines use with Destiny I am pretty sure that they are using the Grognok Engine to build the terrain. • Palawan is very close to the Equator for whatever that's worth (space elevators). I went to Palawan in '93. Hiked the "Monkey trail" went into the "underground river" and then took a boat up to El Nido. One of the more remote places left to visit, I highly recommend going there. Cebu too (west side). They were both awesome.

 • VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE Over the years I have blown he mind of pretty much everyone I have met on Xbox and very little surprises or impresses me. On the other hand I have been waiting for someone to post information like this involving the Destiny star map, when I looked at it my first opinion is that it is a terrain map of some sort. It seems that I was more than like correct. Thanks for filling in the gap with this information I've been looking for.

 • Maybe the underground river(s) is a metaphor for the space travel mechanism in Destiny? You know like how the ocean as rivers/streams, perhaps these underground river from the Philippines map symbolise Destiny's space travel like wormhole tunnels or something? Just an idea.
