This ends the same way it always ends. Cruisers move in at blinding speeds considered unfathomable by either the UNSC or Covenant, melt their planets down to molten slag, orbital factories move in and begin to harvest the planet for resources and start to strip mine what is left of their worlds. Everyone is happy, except the Covenant, who have just become a foot note in the history books.
