• Wow. I have to say that from a game player standpoint that I really don't care about this. You guys hyped this to the wrong market. You knew everyone thought this was going to be your next game. What a letdown.

 •
Posted by: MarXXXisM The only plus is we don't get this let down on Bungie Day. They had the foresight to see the backlash and decided to just let it out there.
Maybe. I honestly don't think Bungie cares about backlash at this point. Podcasts: gone Weekly updates: gone Halo: soon to be gone Is there any incentive for this community to stick together at this point?

 • Pretty good ideas guys. Nice to see that you're reaching out to the "little" guys and helping them move forward. It's always nice to see a company that has enjoyed so much success reaching out and helping some of the folks without the massive fortunes get their items developed and published. Keep up the good work!! I also must say that I'm somewhat surprised that there is no "countdown to Bungie Day" going on on the front page...

 • Son, I am disappoint.... The press release describes one of Bungie's original goals as "to develop games that combine brilliant storytelling, beautiful art, and deep gameplay." Quite honestly no mobile game to date has had any of the above and I very highly doubt that any mobile game will ever feature brillant storytelling, beautiful art, or deep gameplay. So apparently Bungie's current goals have changed. Now it seems that they'd rather make as much money as possible as fast as possible. I wish Bungie luck in this new endeavor and wait with baited breath for any info on their next game; but son, I am very disappoint...

 • I am actually very disapointed in this announcement. While I understand that mobile gaming is a fast growing trend, I doubt it will ever reach the kind of depth and excitment of a console or PC game. I just really hope that this is not a future direction for Bungie. I personally have not bought into the iPhone/Android/uber-powerful smartphone hype yet, and don't plan to anytime soon, so this news is next to nothing to me. I like the idea of helping indie devs, but how about some love for the console and PC indie scene? There are a MULTITUDE of more promising projects and developers on the console and PC fronts than there is, or possibly ever will be, on the mobile market. Casual gaming is not the place for deep gameplay, story-telling, or even pretty graphics. It's about catering to people who want to play a simple, interesting game while putting little-to-no time into it. I personally don't care for casual games, and as I said before, I hope this does not show the future direction of Bungie, as the casual market is NOT what made Bungie what it is today. Real games are what put them on the map, and I pray to God that is how it stays. Expansion is fine, but changing directions entirely is not. This is of course, speculation, and are probably false fears. But, the intrusion of the casual gaming market into the hardcore (or mainstream, whichever) gaming market is becoming more and more apparent, with Microsoft going more casual with the Kinect and less recently, Avatars. But, forgetting all of this, I am still quite excited for Bungie's next project. "...Wouldn't it be cool if there was a world that is always there for you..." is (bascially) how they put it, I believe...

 •
Posted by: Full Time Loser Maybe. I honestly don't think Bungie cares about backlash at this point. Podcasts: gone Weekly updates: gone Halo: soon to be gone Is there any incentive for this community to stick together at this point?
They are a little more uninvolved with the community (they are still present a decent amount, though), but this is because, like Urk said, they are working very hard on their next game. Their next game is the incentive for the community to stick together. Besides, it's not like they didn't warn us that they would be less involved. If they are uninvolved because they are working on the next game, we should be happy. OT: I'm so surprised people thought this was their next game. They would not announce their next game only a year after their previous one (although we might still get a teaser). Bungie took a while to develop sequels, and now, they are developing a whole new universe. We can't expect stuff so soon. As for what Aerospace actually is, I too am a little disappointed because it doesn't involve me too much as a gamer, but I am still happy for the independent developers. Besides, since Bungie is working with these indie developers early on, they could easy recruit the great developers for more kick ass games. If that means better and more awesome games for me, then I'm happy. [Edited on 06.30.2011 8:14 AM PDT]

 • Why is everyone so disappointed? No one actually thought this was supposed to be a game, right? Sounds great to me. Bungie started out as a little developer, now they're helping out those other little developers. Who knows, one of them could make the next Halo. Secondly, it's not like Bungie is done making games. People act like Bungie can never make another game now... I'm pretty sure they have plans, this is just something they're doing right now.

In a way, Bungie hyped it by taunting us with it, but at the same time, it's not Bungie's fault that because they aren't responsible for our childish giddiness. Our childish giddiness sends our minds on a wild guessing game of what awesome thing it could be, only to be let down.

 • Wow this is surprising. Surprisingly awesome. Seriously, Bungie. This is the best step you could have possibly taken after becoming independent. It's great that you use your success to help creative newcomers. Looks like you never forgot your roots :) You are truly great *sniff*

 • It's really awesome to see a company as famous and notable as Bungie supporting smaller developers to this degree. I know you'll probably make buckets o' bucks off this program, and even if it's just a PR move, it's a really, really, good one. *Full Disclosure: I have an iPhone 4.
