I just can't justify eating meat anymore
Heifer whines could be human cries Closer comes the screaming knife This beautiful creature must die This beautiful creature must die A death for no reason And death for no reason is MURDER And the flesh you so fancifully fry Is not succulent, tasty or kind It's death for no reason And death for no reason is MURDER And the calf that you carve with a smile It is MURDER And the turkey you festively slice It is MURDER Do you know how animals die? Kitchen aromas aren't very homely It's not "comforting", cheery or kind It's sizzling blood and the unholy stench Of MURDER It's not "natural", "normal" or kind The flesh you so fancifully fry The meat in your mouth As you savour the flavour Of MURDER NO, NO, NO, IT'S MURDER NO, NO, NO, IT'S MURDER Oh... and who cares about an animals life? ~Anon
As Morrissey once said: "nobody can come up with a good argument for eating animals - nobody can. People as some kind of a joke say, well, 'It's tasty', but it's only tasty once you garnish it and you put salt and pepper, and you cook it, and you have to do 300 things to it to disguise its true taste. If you put garnishes on a chair or fabric, it would probably taste quite nice." Animals who die for your dinner table die alone, in terror, in sadness and in pain. The killing is merciless and inhumane. There is absolutely no reason why we should eat meat from an evolutionary or 'natural' perspective either. Our bodies are not designed to. Just, how do I stop, I suppose you could say I'm addicted.

It should have been locked pages ago. Everyone is just making the same statements over and over. There's no discussion left.
And you're doing an absolutely terrible job contributing to the thread yourself.
I've made my stance on the subject. I simply don't care. I could sit here and pretend that I do for the sake of coming across as "humane" or whatnot. But I'd be lying. I have a very clear separation between animals I consider to be domesticated pets, and those I use for food. Whether it sits in a cage until it ends up on my plate, or is treated with adoration and foot massages makes no difference to me. The result is the same.

Become aware of the problem 2. ??? 3. Profit! And/or completely revolutionized animal processing industry with no abuse whatsoever.
Don't be like that. Obviously the answer is to quit support such industries.
How am I supposed to know which industries are lax on their humane treatment of animals if law enforcement doesn't? Of course my support ends for them if it is exposed, but their production also stops; it's not as if farms that abuse animals are allowed to continue operating until they've fixed the problems with the employees. If I could have a fun little list of companies that have been proven to abuse animals, yet continue to operate, I'd love to see it and I'd immediately begin avoiding their products. I've done the same for just about every shoe company, Nike in particular, and I truly don't support the cruelty, but I do support understanding that animal abuse is a minority in the industry for many good reasons.
The sad thing is laws don't stop most of the abuse. There haven't been hardly any major food industry law changes on animal treatment since the '50s. The reason is because people are obviously not engaged enough to care, or unaware. I think it's incredible that you do care and even care enough to act on it. Animal abuse is not something that rarely happens, most industries are very, very cruel and abusive the the animals. If not all. Even kosher industries are intensely abusive.
My roommates bud told me about "Halal" It's the Muslim way of slaughtering animals. I couldn't think of a more humane way to do it. Apparently the meat is much more expensive though as it takes longer to do it humanly.

 • Okay I'm gonna put this out there just because people don't eat meat doesn't mean they are better visa versa. I have read most of this and there is an underlying battle to prove whether meat eaters or veggies are better. Doesn't effect me though as I only eat beer.

I might eat meat if I had to to survive, but I don't.
No -blam!- Sherlock. Humans have rationality and animals have instinct. Meat is part of a healthy balanced diet.

 • Just saying, I'd never be a vegetarian. Endless buffalo wings at Gator's Dockside for $10.95 is just too good to pass up.

Of course I'm aware of abuse in the animal-processing industry, but there are already laws regulating it and it's not like an outcry of protest against the abuse will stop them. It's like trying to stop murder by telling murderers it's inhumane. Well, no -blam!- sherlock. Your plan (and everyone else's favoring your view): 1. Become aware of the problem 2. ??? 3. Profit! And/or completely revolutionized animal processing industry with no abuse whatsoever.
