  • As bad as I feel for the gun owners, I feel sorry for all of the people that don't have guns who are now currently on a map that conveniently makes the information available.

  • It's legal. I think it's a good thing that she did it.

    • Why should anything happen to her? What she did was perfectly legal.

    • Not sure why she should go to jail over something legal.

      • Why does the media continuously villainize gun owners? It just makes us angry and then we get into these pointless fights.

She didn't break the law, so no. The law has a flaw, she's exposed the flaw in the law. She exercised poor judgement as a journalist. If she and the reporter who I believe is a man, were to have done the map where the pins showed that a permit holder was on a particular block (but no name or address) they could have "made the point" that they said that they were trying to make. That gun permit holders are not rare, and are everywhere. If that was their point, they could have thought it through a little bit, realized that the names and addresses that they were posting were not people who had broken the law, they were people who are actually following the law and in some instances were battered women who were hiding from their abuser, cops and prison guards who carry off-duty, judges and attorneys who have prosecuted and sentenced violent criminals to jail who have sworn revenge, and so on. The names and the addresses were (IMO) too far. If they were (as journalists) attempting to get a conversation going, then the pins on a map, down to the street but without name and address, would have made their point just as well. The paper made a bad choice in their actions, and many people associated with it will have a hard time distancing themselves from the consequences of this story.

        • Nah. She's a total piece of shit and ought to be told so at least once daily, but jail's a bit too far.
