Serious question. Not trying to be a -blam!-. If you don’t enjoy a specific game type; is the god roll of 1 weapon worth it? (Amid the tons of weapons we have in the game)

 • Not at all for me. I'm done with comp

 • It depends on the person; I suppose, is the correct answer. I'll example myself. The Whisper quest isn't worth it because I find almost no value in snipers, so I don't use them. Everything else seems like a better option for the map sizes and confrontation types, of almost all content in Destiny, with tanky enemies to boot. Why use special, when I can just pick away at the same distance with a scout or good pulse more effectively? Special ammo economy sucks for what it does PvE side. Though Onslaught actually gives us space now. Used them a bit in there, but most other content? Nope. Maybe some Raid stuff. For others it might be worth it. Depends how much people feel they can utilize it, I suppose. Or if they really just like the archetype, maybe they'll excruciate the chase. There are varying reasons.

 • I see what you’re saying. There’s a slight difference there though. You can get the Whisper by running it on Normal. Harder mode is optional, as are the catalyst and other attributes. Same goes for Onslaught. There is a beginner friendly mode that allows you to basically obtain the exact same things as on Legend, albeit at a slower pace. Even the shinies drop there. OP was talking about Comp and Rose. Which, depending on your skill level, is probably a struggle. Pair that with the state of the game mode, the limit on the amount of Roses you can obtain weekly, and the ridiculous rng, then yeah, I can see why they’re getting fed up with the chase/grind. It makes it that much more annoying that the gun is actually good (something even I can recognize, despite hating handcannons). Though where I have the luxury of decent substitutes for weapons I can’t obtain, I can understand the perspective of Rose being “one of a kind” on paper. (Only lightweight handcannon in the game, right?)

 • Yeah, Bungie does need to can the limitations. You know? I still haven't even gotten Mythoclast. Been in that raid so many times. I don't care anymore though. As long as the activity is available, I see zero problems with allowing paying customers to engage without limitation. Its absurd and completely disrespectful to the players, that the company does this. A good reason, in part why this company is failing so badly too.

 • Took me 40 before it dropped. You just have to sit back and let it happen.

 • Yeah. Most of the time I'm cool with that. I get antsy in these limited time things though. Most other devs seem to up drop rates for things in limited events; Bungle not so much.

 • Still no Mytho? Damn. I had a clan mate with the exact same problem. He ran that raid so many times it was ridiculous. It’s bad game design at it’s peak. The cheapest artificial way to try and keep a player invested. Just for that one stupid exotic. I.m.o. the raid exotic chase is due for an overhaul. I like what they did with Crota’s End, where you could work towards obtaining it, instead of relying on absurd rng

 • Yeah. I'm missing almost all raid exotics actually. Some I've done alot of others not so much. I don't have much time for raids, but I'll do stuff with my friends when we can all get together.

 • The reason is because rose has a feel to it that separates it from other hand cannons and if you like that feel your screwed into chasing it. I personally don’t care for rose but I’ve realized it’s not because it’s bad, it’s because it just doesn’t fit me, I 100% get what your saying though but the position he’s in does suck.

 • Even I feel the difference with Rose, and I hate handcannons. I wasn’t implying anything, literally just asking for his take on the situation with the context I added. I totally get the feeling of chasing a weapon and having to “suffer” through the game.

 • I wasn’t saying you were implying anything, and I still don’t think you are, just merely commenting on it because I’ve been there, sounds like you’ve been there to. Thing is I’ve asked myself the same question is it worth it? It was for me when it was redrix’s that was the weapon the chase, and I finally got it, but this is almost worse because it’s random rolls, and looking at their stats, they’re a player that will still play even after they get the one they want, ironically the end is made to keep people chasing, but when it’s this hardcore, it may have the effect of pushing the person away. And I’m not saying any of this like at you, none of this is pointed, I’m just expounding on the negative side effect of the rng. I’m the end after that is it worth it? For me because of the randomness no. I’d try and find something else and move forward. If they still want it badly I’d hit comp just once in a while, spread the games out over the week so it’s less painful.

 • I hear ya. We’re both musing on the subject. Yeah the rng in this game is brutal. And though I fully understand Bungie’s need to keep players coming back for more, I don’t know if that specific level of frustrating loot chase is worth it at this point in the game’s lifespan. It works with shiny drops in onslaught, but that’s because the mode is relatively fun, has a lot of loot in it anyway, and isn’t locked into a ridiculous “only x amount of gun available per week”. It’s like: we don’t mind the grind and don’t need anything handed to us. But three things are at play: - it’s a game, which means it’s supposed be fun - not respecting the time that a player can free up to play the game will most likely push them away - putting a coveted weapon behind a mode that’s becoming increasingly unpopular is like shooting yourself in the foot Trials has had some player friendly reworks. No reason why Comp shouldn’t get the same i.m.o.

 • Well for me yes it is worth it, I’m a handcannon sniper main and rose is my favorite weapon rn. Some may even consider it to be the best. As for other loot I have all the raid adepts, trials adepts, nightfalls etc. There really isn’t a god roll I don’t have. But comp use to be some what fun an now I feel like it shouldn’t even be called competitive.
