Explosive payload is broken and makes your weapon do less damage than a weapon with out it in Crucible. I only did tests with a 140 rpm hand cannon but here are the results:
140rpm HC with explosive payload does a maximum of 225 for three consecutive head shots. Max player health is 230 with maximum resilience.
140rpm HC with no explosive payload yields 231 damage with three head shots.
Any character above 5 resilience in crucible can survive 3 headshots with a 140 explosive payload HC to the head with no over shield.
I also tried with buffs and yielded that the explosive payload HC was still doing a total of 5 less damage than a 140 HC even with buffs.
TLDR:
Explosive payload on HCs decreases the overall damage and this leads to being to not able to 3 headshot other guardians in pvp that have a resilience of 6 or more. I will update y’all on other weapons types to see if it is the same for those.

Pretty sure payload perks on all weapons got shafted for pvp with the recent update due to the explosive damage always counting as a bodyshot (even when you hit the head)
-
They ruined an entire archetype and put ingenous on a pedestal

In other news, I finally got my 5/5 rose with slideshot/explosive rounds this week 🥲

Edited by Meaga: 3/15/2024 6:30:53 AM140RPM HCs are very strong right now. They okay super well in comp and I’m quite happy that I can use them again. They’re skill guns. Explosive payload needed to go, it’s a very annoying perk and isn’t very fair at all. This is obviously a glitch, but this perk needs to be destroyed regardless.

I think the updated gutted last word,I was using it against a titan and it would only four-tap.
-
140's are terrible in this sandbox in general
-
Sadly no hand cannons role gutshot and explosive payload in different slots, because it works well on the event scout.
-
In pve, I think my kept confidense w/loose change + collective action is doing pretty good for some reason? It was kinda average really, but not now.
-
Side note: Thorn can no longer two tap with it’s remnant buff.

Thorn and Ace need to be adjusted as well.
