Can some awesome lore people answer me this? It's about raids.

Okay so I'm not huge into lore but I like watching videos. But I have one question... How many Guardians does really clear a raid? I've always had this thought that it would be really cool if every guardian clearing a raid were "impersonating" the original 6 who got worlds first. And it in a way makes sense, because every raid boss can only die once? Riiiight????? So in my own head it makes perfectly sense that every other guardian that clears a raid is actually playing as one of the original 6. And if anyone answers please don't say "well I'm not salt or whoever you don't like" please don't, that's not the topic. This might be my brain overcomplicating things like always but once you know what I mean by it it's actually not thaaaaat stupid

  • Canonical I believe when your guardian clears a raid for the 1st time, they become the team that beat it. There are a few cutscene and dialogues which are only shown if you beat the raid. So raid bosses can also respect. For example Riven is part of the curse and resurrects every 3 weeks to be killed. Rhulk may also revive every week which is why we need to kill him.

  • I don't believe there has been an in-game explanation for it other than alluding to "The Guardian" (that of course being the player themselves) and their fireteam. That team is the one going through and clearing the raid as you see it. Based on that and similar lore it is heavily implied that other teams do follow up into the area afterwards to research, remove artifacts, and clean up any remaining resistance. This is probably also how the same loot gets distributed through more than one group of Guardians, though engrams can be "copied" as if they were like schematics, at least according to the Spire of the Watcher lore regarding loot distribution.

  • It’s the same paradox that most of the game is troubled with. We are “The Guardian” to us but to everyone else, we’re just a side character. Not all the raids are canonically completed by ‘The Guardian’ so in a sense, you’re right. The game doesn’t always marry gameplay and lore. We can do things out of time - playing strikes where Cayde is still alive for example. Sometimes the game tries to address this and other times it sweeps it to one side. My advice is to use whatever headcanon helps you to enjoy the activity.
