Consistent Crashing

I've seen a variety of posts on the PC Support side of this forum describing a total crash for players. I've had this crash occur 5 times to me now and I'd like to detail a few things I remember about each crash. One note before the post I did NOT have this occur during release day of Lightfall or the subsequent 2 days. It has only occurred within the past 3 days. As per a previous post with Helpdesk response, here is a Dxdiag.txt posted in pastebin https://pastebin.com/0uzXVhmg Crash 1 Don't remember a lot about the crash in game, other than I was minding my own business doing a Public Event in Neomuna. I do remember we were at stage 3/3 and that there were multiple users throwing Strand around. I remember that my PC was loaded with Spotify, Discord, Destiny 2, and multiple Google Chrome Tabs. I had my screen go blank, a windows error sound popped and then I had 0 control over my computer. My fans ramped up to 100% and then I forced shut off with a long Power button press. A note that I was playing for a long time (3-4 hours) in the game when this occurred, in future crashes I notice it happens more frequently with less playtime. Crash 2 This crash occurred during a new Battleground playlist activity. We had finished the first boss during the event and had teleported to the final boss. I remember using Stasis turrets, that my teammates were using Strand. I was monitoring my temperatures due to my concerns post first crash, and I noticed they were in the 60's. I also noted that I was just running Discord, and Destiny 2. I tried having no Spotify, or Chrome. Same crash sequence of a blank screen, windows error sound, zero control over computer and my fans ramped up to 100%. I was forced to reset my computer at that time. I did notice that sounds were looping in the background but nothing else could be heard (Discord) Crash 3 Occurred during a solo campaign mission. I was suppressed and did not have the luxury of strand or a super. I had a Titan with void and was throwing around suppression grenades' when the crash occurred. I was using Discord at the time, Temperatures were low and I tried to limit my other apps during my playtime. Again, same crash sequence, blank screen, windows error sound (but not visual), fans ramp, reboot PC. I did notice however, that I was able to speak with my friends over discord before I rebooted noting that they could hear me just fine but I was unable to interact with any apps or any other functions of my PC. At this time my playtime before the crash was maybe an hour or two. Crash 4 Occurred late last night while playing another campaign mission solo. I was going to reset the power of the Arknet and I had come across and finished the first major group of Vex. I was just about to plant the flag for the next encounter when it crashed. This time I had a feeling it was not the apps in the background that was causing the crash so I was running Spotify, Discord and Destiny 2. Again the same sequence of events occurred, black screen, windows error sound, fans ramped, and I went to reboot. I did notice that the sound was looping this time but my Discord did not loop. Unsure why that was... After this crash I got serious about my software. I updated drivers, bios, all sorts of background apps and functions. I am unaware if it is software because... Crash 5 Happened 20 minutes ago. Another solo campaign mission, I had finished the Tormentor fight in "No Time Left" and was headed back down to remove the suppressor thingies with Strand. I killed the enemies guarding the suppressor and then went to heavy attack it before I crashed. The same sequence of events, black screen, windows error sound, fans ramped to 100% and then I had to reboot. Audio was looping. I am frustrated but unaware of what else I can do. I have attempted to limit my PC's hardware usage by not having Discord, Spotify or Chrome open. I've tried updating my apps and software. I've attempted to limit temperatures by removing panels on my PC and giving it cool air. I am just not sure what else I can troubleshoot.

  • I have now experienced my 6th and 7th crash. My 6th occuring during the opening encounter of Kingsfall and with minimal background apps outside of Discord. I went to install a previous GPU Driver and it worked for the rest of the raid. My 7th occurred this evening after starting a Legendary Campaign mission I immediately crashed upon entering the missions checkpoint. I was running Discord and DIM via Chrome. I've resorted to a friends trick he used back in Shadowkeep release. I've accessed my Destiny 2 Local files and "deleted" everything in that file folder except "packages". I went immediately back to Steam and went straight to "verify game files" to get me back up and running. I'll report back if this fixes the issue.

    • Oh my god... I thought I was the only one. I've been crashing every 20 minutes on PC. I've tried absolutely everything apart from uninstalling windows. It has to be something wrong with the game, event viewer simply says "fatal appilcation error" when it crashes. Not to mention the game runs like -blam!- as well. Updated graphics drivers, verified steam files, reinstalled the game. Any other game on my system works fine.

      • Hi there! According to your DxDiag report, your system generated a LiveKernel crash event, error code 141. These have historically been known to be caused by a GPU issue or a driver issue. To isolate this issue, please perform a clean reinstallation of your graphics driver. You can do this through the GeForce Experience app. Click on the three dots next to your current driver installation, then click on Reinstall Driver. When prompted, click on Custom Installation. Then, make sure the Perform a Clean Installation box is checked. Once this is complete, restart your system and try again. I would also like to note that your system seems to be having some software issues with the iCue software. While this shouldn't cause any crashes with Destiny 2, it is pushing out any important event logs that your DxDiag is capturing, which can make it difficult to resolve the issue. I would recommend checking with Corsair to see if they have updated software that may resolve this issue or if they are aware that these issues are occurring.

        • I'm having very similar issues, though without forcing a PC reboot. I've had the crashes happen during solo campaigns, in nightfall, and even when just standing talking to a vendor. For me it crashes straight to desktop without any warning whatsoever. Nothing else on my PC is affected. There's very little consistency - I've had it happen after 30 minutes of playing, and 4 hours of playing. Temps are all great, drivers up to date, etc. etc. I haven't had this happen in any other game.
