Title says it all really. How are we supposed to build craft when the most important parts of our builds (exotic and stat distribution) are tied behind RNG?
Not to mention terrible RNG in terms of exotics. Lost Sector farming is brutal. You can spend hours and not getting anything close to the piece you need.
Even Grandmaster farming is awful. I got an exotic with 2 discipline from a GM today even though I have a discipline ghost mod on.
Like every other RPG on the planet, please let us invest in our armor.
My ideas:
1. Make raids, dungeon, Trials, and all Master and higher level content have a chance to drop glass needles. Glass needles can also be used to re-roll any armor piece you want, including exotics, but does not alter the stat total. This can be done infinitely to a non-enhanced piece of armor.
2. Glass needles can also be used to "enhance" an armor piece, increasing the stat total and allowing you to move around a few stat points. Can be used up to a pre-set maximum number of times to show that an armor piece has been fully "enhanced." The stack limit (if it has one - I'd prefer it didn't) should be NO LESS than the maximum number that can be used per piece times 4 pieces. That way a player can get all their math in order before investing.
3. Change masterworking from "energy" to slots. Every two levels unlocks a slot, for a total of 5 slots. Stat mod slot, weapon mod slot 1, weapon mod slot 2, combat style, and artiface.
4. Remove elemental affinity altogether. Unnecessary roadblock for buildcrafting.
I think changes like this would give players a better way to actually "craft" a build.

Lets be real, any build that outperforms or becomes popular will catch a nerf. Its not even about balance anymore, its just shifting the meta.
