A thought-out rebuttal to the BST (Big Scary Twab)

Bungo, there was a LOT of contradiction in that Twab. You say this is a game where players can live their "Power Fantasy" in this game of "Space Magic," and then immediately tell us that we'll get to use our "Space Magic" abilities less? What was the point there? I can understand that gun-play is an important part of the game, but our "Space Magic" is exactly what makes Destiny Destiny, and what makes it fun. I've seen many comments along the lines of "If I want to just shoot people I'll go play Battlefield or CoD," and while I'm sure it won't be that bad as far as some things go, I have to say ability usage just got a lot more bleak looking. Now I understand that sometimes the community can have a bit more of a reaction to something that may or may not be all that bad. The tier system for regeneration seems viable and it may work out great, I'm not going to say much about it until it's here. The lessening of passive generation and leaning towards focusing on active-play (dealing and taking damage) is another thing that seems like it should work out fine, but again, we won't be able to really say much about it until it's here. However, things that fundamentally change the way things work is something that I believe that our thoughts should be able to weigh in on. What I'd like to express here, is that we loved the "Gotta Go Fast update" mentality of wanting us to feel like our guardians, we, are powerful. Empowering us to take on challenges and adapt to and overcome whatever may come our way was something that was absolutely loved by the community. If you ask me, nerfing things that are strong, and fun to use is NOT the right way to go. If something in the sandbox is becoming a problem in PvP (not to include things such as Telesto), then don't nerf that thing, give us something else that can counter it. This new thing can either be an ability, a weapon, a mod, something else that's fun or broken, but taking away things that the community enjoys is the wrong way to go. For example, if someone is tired of getting frozen/shattered by stasis, then give us anti stasis mods! Something that can prevent/lessen freeze or shatter damage. This will empower the community with a new tool, a new way to feel powerful. That is Destiny right there. The nerf that has been outlined for stasis sounds like it going to neuter it's abilities almost entirely. The supers sound like they'll still be able to get the job done (I'd like more info on how stasis crystals not freezing will affect the Behemoth super), but taking away stasis crystals' ability to freeze and kill players in PvP absolutely destroys the draw to use those abilities. I stated above that players should be empowered to play to their strengths and this is no exception. Take what I said in the above paragraph about anti-stasis mods and use that! This will let Stasis users to enjoy their play-style and give others a way to counter it! That IS balance! Doing that would then cause those Stasis users to be more warry than just expecting everyone to get frozen. The OHK (One Hit Kill) abilities like shoulder charge or handheld supernova shouldn't be removed, not at all. If anything spread the wealth around, and once again, empower us to be able to counter them! Give us the ability to use the melee damage resistance mod to counter shoulder charge, give us the ability to use the concussive dampener mod to counter handheld super nova or sticky grenades. EMPOWER US!!! We, our guardians, are powerful paracausal beings! Should we not be able to duke it out with each other at our best with our own unique fighting style?! In the BST (Big Scary Twab) it was stated that gunplay should be highlighted as "first and foremost" in 3v3 modes. I highly disagree. In the competitive 3v3 modes, a player should, once again, feel empowered to play to the strengths of their play-style. If someone wants to play with a focus on gunplay, then they should be empowered to play that way too! What I'm saying, is that the player who focuses on gunplay will equip their mods that help them play the way that they want, meanwhile another player who wants to focus on abilities as either support, offence, or countering should be able to make that their focus without being forced to divert their playstyle towards gunplay! I am a Behemoth Titan. I focus on my abilities and close range weapons. With my current build it is dangerous to get too close to me or to allow me to get too close to you. I do okay at mid ranges, thanks to my trusty Igneous Hammer (Adept), but I get countered pretty good at long range and even still sometimes at mid ranges. The way I play makes me feel powerful and really let's me enjoy the time I spend playing Destiny. With the upcoming Stasis changes, I get the feeling that I will be unable to enjoy playing the same way. I'm positive that there are a lot of other players that are feeling the same way. My only hope for all of this, is to save the way that us players already enjoy playing, and to empower others to find new and fun ways to play, counter, lose, win, and be themselves. Please Bungie, empower us.
