The unpopular opinion: What if Osiris is normal?

With the situation for season of the splicer coming up all the time let's explore the possibility to say Savathun is playing everyone. What if Osiris isn't corrupted/hidden away/anything other than normal? Let your theories fly. Mine is simple: Savathun is a master of trickery. Perhaps she intended for us to focus on one guardian who responded to her song like Osiris and has instead been doing something behind our backs the entire time within the Vex network. Perhaps Mithrax was wrong about Quria being the center of the vex curse and she intends to plunge the last city into the vex network and reign chaos on people.

  • This would be a massive troll and would actually fit with the story. Savathun feeds off deception so making us sus of Osiris would really benefit her if Osiris isn't corrupted or whatever

With all the lore bits that humanize Savathun’s character, I wouldn’t be surprised if Savathun turns out to be an ally against the Winnower. One part that has me partly convinced is one line from Osiris at the end of an Expunge. Osiris asks Mithrax “You would join hands with Savathun?” To me this indicates a moderate interest from Savathun, as if it’s a concept she never considered possible. Especially considering Savathun seems to be behind on everything. She seems to marvel at what she learns while living among us in the City.

      • I was thinking the other day what if we're being double bluffed.. turns out osiris is fine but the warlock lady (who name escapes me right now) is being manipulated. She had the foresight to see it happening so she gave those reports or whatever it was to osiris (the only person who she could really trust). If that is the case, it turns out osiris really need to work on his interpersonal communication skills.

        • Ada-1 is obviously Savathun. Ada hates Guardians, dispises them even, and she left the tower to go on her merry way to avoid Guardians completely, and took her forges with her. Now she suddenly comes back and is being all pally with Guardians because she wants to start a guardian fashion show just at the same time as the Last City becomes enveloped in darkness? Coincidence? I think not!!

          • I mean Savathun is basically Aizen from Bleach controlling things in the background. Literally based on what people in the Lore are saying about Osiris he has been acting differently for a while now. EVEN SAINT-14 THINKS SO. He doesn't need to be Savathun but he Literally looked into a Cryptolith so if the current Osiris is still the real Osiris he is definitely being manipulated by her. Doing things behind the Vanguards back, bringing the Crown of Sorrow to the last city, wanting to capture and detain Quria in the last city... Dude is either INSANE or he is being controlled. He also according to the leak ~Spoilers~ helped FWC open a vex portal in the city... Osiris wouldn't do that because HE KNOWS TO FEAR THE VEX. He has been studying them for decades. So I throughly believe that Osiris is being manipulated by a team of Xivu Arath (Cryptoliths poisoned his mind just like the others in Season of The Hunt) And Savathun is pulling the strings watching us. They even directly say Ikora gave Osiris access to everything we have on her. So this is the perfect time for her to destroy or manipulate info we have on her. She is trying to destroy the only order the Last City has in order to use the Traveller to free her of her Wyrm and live forever.

          • I find it very unlikely that Savathûn used Osiris without having influence over him, that’s assuming she’s not wearing an Osiris suit like a skin puppet. Before Season of the Splicer maybe you’d have a case, but this Season Osiris has made a clear attempt to play every side in the political turmoil of the Last City and gone behind the backs of both his partner Saint-14 and his student Ikora. Honestly the fact Ikora didn’t go to Eris, likely because of her involvement with Stasis, is going to end up being a critical error.

              • Up until his reaction after the Quria mission I could believe it, but his disdain for Quria defeat seemed to show the opposite. Although he did want to capture it not defeat it .

                • I think osiris is actually not the bad guy here, in past lore, osiris was kicked out for a reason. Osiris was the guy that always questioned the light and the way the speaker ran things, he was always seeking knowledge even if it meant doing shady things. The way he has been behaving lately is actually nothing new, this is what the real osiris is like. The guy is not afraid to seek answers even if it means doing things no one agrees with.

                • None of this matters in the slightest, next season it'll be something else and this story thread will be forgotten about. If any of you can remember that shtt show Lost it seems Destinys 'writers' are doing a long and boring Lindelof impression.

                • <I think he's corrupted a little. A bit of influence thanks to the proximity of her machinations to the City's denizens. However... I never thought he was possessed. I think the writing around him is too obvious, as if Bungie WANTS us to figure out what should be a real twist. That's not Goddess of Deception writing, that's "learnt your first trick" writing.>

                  • I like the theory that Osiris has ‘Doctor-stranged’ all this and knew what he and everyone else has to do in order to beat Savathun. Whether that was being abducted by her/taken over or just acting weird is yet to be revealed but I do like the idea that he foresaw all of it.

                  • What if we are corrupted and this is all in out head. I mean we spend a lot of time around hive artifact that have been known to corrupt guardians, plus we are constantly hearing savathun song everywhere we go. This would explain why all the npcs dont seem to notice the endless night or the blight in the tower.

                    • This was all leaked in a document several seasons ago. Unless Bungie has maneuvered in response to the leak, things are exactly as they seem.

                        • I kind of have the impression that this seasons Osiris behaviours are basically just how Osiris is. This dude got banished once, and nobbed off for however long in the Forest. He wasn’t lost or anything, just F-U everyone else, I’m doing my things my way.

                          • I think it could go either way. On the one hand he’s already obsessive and a little unhinged. On the other, he could be a Savathun meat puppet. What I do know is that like Quria we’ll probably have a tedious fight where you do a specific thing and whatever you’re fighting unceremoniously dies and we move on to the next thing the game wants us to kill.
