I’m wondering if some things you’ve written, whether stories or scenes, were based off of music. Like the music made the tone for a scene, stuff like that!

I often listen to Two Steps From Hell while writing my book.
Sorry, all out of salt.
-
Absolutely. 90% of my ideas are based off music lol.
-
Depending on what I'm writing I'll play certain songs to set a "mood" while I'm writing a particular piece.
-
Yeah, I’ve written quite a few unrelated short stories after getting a certain vibe from my music.

Had to write an english project making a soundtrack for romeo and juliet
-
No. At least that I know of.

Edited by Boss: 6/5/2020 5:58:01 AMI used some music for my story. Back when I was making "I Silenziatori", I mostly based it off of the "Mafia" game series and shows like The Sopranos. Music mostly just helped me get into the mindset for writing a story based in the 1950s. I'd listen to old jazz and stuff like the Andrew Sisters.

When I do write music can serve as inspiration and tone/mood.
-
Music is great inspiration of literature, and viceversa.
-
Not necessarily based off of entirely, but I’m writing a graphic novel, and as I write scenes and imagine the imagery that will go along with them, I often play music that feels like it would go with the scene if it were a movie. The energy and tone of the music helps to set the energy and tone for the writing.
-
Almost everything I write is to music. Rhythm, tempo, key, it all helps greatly influence the scene when I write. And music in general helps me focus. Shameless self-congratulation: Three chapters left on my book! I seriously think I’m getting the base draft done before the end of the summer!
-
Yes actually, happens quite often. That is why I ALWAYS listen to music while writing. The tone of the music flows into the writing and can even give me ideas on entire stories based solely on the mood of the music. This is also why I choose the music I listen to very carefully while I'm writing, so that I get the mood and tone of what I'm writing right.

Sabaton, DragonForce, Metallica, Iron Maiden, or Kamisa Washington I have playing on Spotify in the background while I write.
I dunno about “theme/scene” but I can say for “motivation/feel.”
Edited by ON THE HOOK 306: 6/4/2020 9:50:03 PMNah but my mind always works to music so I guess technically maybe

Edited by Mandalorian16_1: 6/4/2020 10:40:02 PMYes, yes, yes, yes, oh absolutely yes. But its all in a note book, just some random D2 fanfic stuff that never joined into the story I did make. Edit: blaze, you have given me an idea, I will share this note book of mine.

Edited by man_of_war_r2: 6/4/2020 9:35:24 PMI wrote a post nuclear story. I'm currently editing it and plan on sending into a publisher. I was listening to fallout soundtracks and got the idea. So I guess it kind of is. I also took inspiration from the metro games and I am legend.

Yep. I forget what song it was, but one of my stories only exists to begin with because of one song’s creative use of the word “starlight”. However, I also find that leaning too hard into music for inspiration can throw off a story’s pacing to the whims of your playlist, and during bouts of writer’s block I find music very distracting, and keeping me from getting back on topic.
-
Hm, yeah, sometimes 🤔 It probably happens more than I realize, lol. I usually listen to music while writing to keep myself focused, though.
-
... Yeah it can be useful, or you know I end up writing in a bunch of random shite in my brain into the song and have to delete an hour of wirk...
not included in the DLC
Music helps Varvatos get in the zone, but it doesn’t necessarily change the way he writes. Listening to music that fits with what he is writing is good to rid himself of distractions.
-
I’m not a very good writer being that this is the only place I’ve ever truly written anything but I try to think of video game soundtracks while doing so.
-
I use music frequently for mood when writing. Many times that means that I'll listen to video game and movie soundtracks or classical music.
-
I'll listen to music with a similar vibe to what Im trying to write. But I listen to music almost every time I write.
