I liked infinite, was kinda a idiot and played it before the others, due to it being the first downloaded when they came out free... The others felt boring and old, infinite felt somewhat modern...

The “modernization” is actually my biggest problem with it. The regenerating shield, constant Spice/health refills, the two weapon slots that you just grab from enemies.. These were all made to help it feel like a “modern” shooter. To those who like mainstream shooters, this is probably great, but to someone who liked Bioshock, it just took all the depth out of combat. The constant health/Spice refills & shield made each combat encounter only matter in the moment. If you could scrape through the immediate combat encounter, you’d be fine. In the older ones, using all your medkits, or EVE in one fight could doom you in another. You had to make decisions, weigh whether using a refill, or ammo was worth it. The weapon system no longer allowed you to use the right weapon at the right time, but it was always just whatever you picked up. Before, pulling out my grenade launcher was a tactical choice, in Infinite I was just mindlessly using whatever I could find. And don’t even get me started on the story. The whole thing was just hoping you were too confused to actually know what was going on, and once you do figure it out, you realize it makes no jamblasted sense! But, credit where credit’s due; it did have a fun horde mode, and Burial At Sea Part 2 (only Part 2) was pretty fun! Oh, and Songbird is pretty sweet.
I want to buy the Bioshock Collection again, this time on my Xbox. I bought it on my PS4 right before my controller promptly broke..
• The points you made were great, the game did suffer from the modernization, but if the original bioshock was downloaded first, i may have a different opinion

  • Did you ever play 2? The story isn’t quite as good as the first, but the gameplay is phenomenally better, amd doesn’t feel nearly as aged.

  • I played it a little bit, same as the first, I was interesting, but for me, it was boring...

  • Shame. They’re really great games. The big twist in Bioshock 1 is one of the best in video games.

  • I've never been so disappointed in Infinite. I was really looking forward to swinging around on the rail system, only to find that what was supposed to ferry cargo around the city just went in small circles around every battle arena...

  • Are you telling me you don’t just send all your packages around in circles, over and over again? Ha, what a weirdo!
